The only things BCG did better, is a sweet 16 prior to coming to UK, which doesn't matter… and getting drunk.
BCG literally did nothing, even at a satisfactory level, while at UK and his best wins, don't even make Pope's top 10.
Just admit you don't like Pope, you don't have to make ridiculously bad statements.
AND HIS RECRUITING WAS HORRENDOUS!!

We will end up with 2-3 more guys with Hampton. Nasir isn’t a big miss. He’s a bully ball type guard that we already have in zoom. Pope was just talking to him yesterday. Nasir is Unc or Providence with uga still trying to buy him. The dominoes are falling and we will end up with a very good class.
I think it’s a good thing CMP discontinued the recruitment. Hurley did the same.
Dude and his agent were playing money games. Plenty of other targets. We are ok at guard going into next season. Get the right fit. Nasir isn’t a shooter and apparently all about the bag.

Yeah, I don't get it. Some of the critisisms are definitely valid, but half this board acts like the guy went to the NIT both years.

Last year sucked, definitely. The combination of players didn't fit at all and there were injuries and lockerroom issues.

But jeez, every coach out there has had a bad season. At least Pope managed to pull out some good wins (swept UT again and won at Arkansas) and still made the tournament. Is that our standard? Not even close, but our past "HOF" talent collector embarrassed us a lot worse his last 4 years, yet these guys want him back. They're just miserable people.

But when dudes start saying BCG was better, it's time to say something. That's just dumb.
He’s definitely had some very much when you start the season. I’m losing your point guard. Both years is no joke. I still have a lot of issues with them, but that is a big thing to consider.

Success will be just as much about who you recruit and how they fit into your culture and goals. As much as talent alone and guys just chasing money. Hurley has been really good at identifying talented guys who fit together and are all about winning at UConn.

Agreed. Not worth the hype and trouble to me.

He had Kentucky resources and still recruited bums and middle schoolers. Also before nil not every school was willing to funnel lots to basketball players. That’s why most the talent was concentrated to smaller number of schools. Now that everyone is paying it’s spread out way more. So should’ve been easier like when cal came. Cal would’ve never got all the talent he did like 2015 roster in this new era.
In all fairness, Clyde, got Patrick Patterson, Alex Legion, DeAndre Liggins, Darius Miller, Jon Hood, and Daniel Orton, all top rated recruits, as well as Josh Harrelson, a top juco recruit. I know he had verbal commitments from Vinny Zollo, Dekotah Euton, KC Ross-Miller, GJ Vilarino, Kyle Tucker, etc.

If you think pope is strange then what you think about a raging alcoholic as your coach?

billy g should’ve stayed at A&M where that style of coaching worked. Star players don’t wanna play that style.

So how is Pope odd? Because he isn’t like you or Calipari? There has been some very odd acting coaches still pull talent. It’s got nothing to do with him being “odd” as you say.
He turned former top 10 player and disappointment under Melvin Watkins, Antoine Wright, into a top 15 NBA draft choice. Acie Law was a top scorer. Jodie Meeks shined more under Gillespie than Tubby scoring 54 points at Tennessee. I don't like Gillespie but just putting this into perspective.

Pope has brought in better players than anyone on that list except Patrick Patterson. And Moreno, milan and a few others are at that level at minimum.

I’d give Meeks that credit over Billy g and the fact he was the only offense we had outside of Patterson. Billy g excelled in taking underrated guys and getting the most out of them. Some coaches just aren’t cut out for the high profile guys and schools.
