How is the hawk OLIne and linemen grading out, is Dotzler grading low?

I tried finding ratings for players at PFF but couldnt find any for individual players. Never used that site before.

Anyone here in the know about these things have thougths on their grades or how they are performing?

I heard or read that Dotzler is not doing as well as expected.

You gotta pay for PFF's premium subscription to see grades on their site. They used to give you the overall grade for free, but you had to pay for the in depth breakdown. That's gone now too unfortunately. If you scroll on twitter long enough someone usually posts them.

I haven't found the OSU grades but they generally have given the linemen good grades in the high 60s. 60 is considered average by their scale. I'm not sure why, they haven't looked that impressive. I suspect their pass blocking grade is doing most of the carrying, because that part has been solid. Dotzler has not looked as good as we thought for sure.

Maybe. But again, they are projected to be NFL starters, too.

I believe Cannon Leonard has been running #2. I'm not suprised Dotzler is not doing great. He's a 5th year senior who is only now in a starting role. Taking that long shows some perseverance, but not great talent.

I agree. But Kirk has always loved these 5th year first year starters. But right tackle has been a glaring weakness this year.

Another thing I’ll add about dotzler and osu game. He may have had the worst penalty for Iowa. As I’ve heard a coach say not all penalties are created equal. Context of the game with time, Score, situation etc.

Dotzler being so far off line right before 2 min warning was inexcusable and costly and it was called correctly. Refs said both Tackles but rewatching Lauck seemed fine (watching live thought OSU right DE off sides). No penalty we are first down from fg range and taking very least more time off clock before half. Usually when tackles that far off because been getting beat and was case Saturday. I’m not saying we were going to win because OSU better but 2nd half could’ve been more competitive and closer score. We get that first down maybe we get a fg. Very least OSU is getting it most likely min or less deep. Could’ve been a 1pt or worse case down 7 at half. But was a massive penalty in the game.

Yeah, might have been a 10-9 deficit for Iowa at the half which means even if OSU scores a TD first in the 2nd half the hawks would be within 8 pts and anything can happen while that is the case. Not sure if you watch the KC Chiefs but the last 2 years their RTackle that they acquired and who was known for inching away from the LOS was flagged so many times over the last 2 years for alignment.

Anyway, the hawks may need to use a RBack to help Dotzler out

average is 60-69, 50-59 below average, anything below 50 is poor. So not great, but that was just for the OSU game.
