For people that don’t think elections matter. Trump tarrifs continue to increase cost. And just wait until oil jumps after the midterms. Every American can proudly say they are worse off today than when Trump took office.

Best of luck to all the big government Republicans this midterm. Even I’m going out to vote against Darlene. Maybe starting a forever war was a bad idea.

and yes trumptards, yall were anti war during Trump’s first term.

just to be clear, not every American is worse off, I for one am doing just fine and, in fact am in a better financial position now than what I was when Trump took office. To be fair, I'm a little worse off than since the war started, so you are correct in that regard.

so, the other 339999999 Americans might be as you described, but not me. And if I read the posts correctly, even Dpic73 is better off during the trump years

These really, really general statements are rarely accurate.

What do you mean by general statements? The NY Fed provided statistical support that the tariffs increased prices by a net 2.9%.

Factual statement: Tariffs + war have caused inflation and high interest rates.

I don’t understand the point of the tariffs. I thought it was to have more products made in the US but I’m not seeing any results of that. All it did was jack up the cost of items more than what Biden already did the previous 4 years. The really sh.itty thing is that American companies raised prices as well.

How does higher cost of living make you better off?

I assume you’re a fiscal conservative. Maybe enlighten me why you think Trump’s fiscally liberal policies are good.

@baltimorened, I think what might be going on here is that your net worth is higher than it was when the Trump administration started and that's enough to offset the increased cost of living. It's worth keeping in mind, however, that the increased cost of living from the tariffs still made you worse off than you otherwise would have been, as I'm not aware of any evidence that the tariffs have strengthened our economy or buoyed the stock market.

You were almost certainly better off at the end of the Biden administration than you were at the start, as well.

I think you misterpreted. I'm not disagreeing with any statement that tariffs have added to inflation. I know they have.

What I questioned, was what that 2.9% number meant. If our inflation today is 3.3%, I just find it hard to believe that tariffs caused 2.9% of that. I had read a previous study, that determined that tariffs made up 1% of the then 2.7 (or so) % inflation.

can't quote, just seemed to me that at some point you had made the statement...when someone was criticising you about finances, that you made the remark that you were doing quite OK.

didn't say Trump's fiscal policies are good. I only said I am better off today than I was when Trump took office. My monthly cash flow is higher, my stock portfolio is up by close to $500k which more than offsets and higher costs caused by inflation or Trump's policies. The OP sated "every American is worse off". I'm just pointing out that's not an accurate statement. Are some worse off? I'm sure there are, but not every american

There are a bunch of smart people who post on this board. I would find it hard to believe if I am the only one in this position.

I don't remember saying that but 'doing fine' is different than saying I'm doing better than before because that's not true. Stock market returns under Biden's last two years were much better than what we've experienced since Trump took office and he's actively sabotaging the economy at every turn. Just because investments have gone up some, just like they would under any president, doesn't mean much when they should have gone up double the rate they have the last two years.

Boy, I can't believe how defensive you guys have been about this. I'm only reacting to a statement "every American is worse off"... I'm not.

Yes, I was better off after Biden's term than at the beginning, but that wasn't the thread...some of his policies made me worse off than I might have been..

Yes the tariffs and Trump's policies have detracted from "what might have been". I was about $200k higher on Feb 28th than I am now..I've posted about a gazillion times (slight exaggeration) how I think the tariffs are bad (in the short term) and really are the exact opposite of what you might do in a high inflation environment. The belief from trump that companies wout "eat" the added costs is as misguided as those who think corporations will just eat the higher taxes imposed on them.

And finally, my point was exactly as you said, increases in my monthly cash flow and portfolio performance dwarf the added costs caused by inflation. And, I'm sure the same could be said by most who post on this board.

I mean my LLC is on pace for record revenue this year and my salary is more than last year. Doesn’t change I’d be better off if we had a president that understood basic economics.

not only has all his economic policies caused inflation. They also did the opposite of what he claims he is fixing… ie the trade deficit. It has expanded under Trump while he has made it his mission to fix. And no, I don’t think a trade deficit is a bad thing like Trump.

this is why his admin attacked BMW for being a net exporter without knowing it and had to bend the knees to the king of England after screwing up the Kentucky used bourbon barrel market. Dude hurts the people he votes for and they are too dumb to understand.

and as an oil bull, my oil stocks are doing extremely well. I wouldn’t have been able to start my LLC if it wasn’t for the last Trump/ Biden oil run.

We are way better off. Don't fall for dickpic's schtick. Those with TDS are conveniently forgetting about decreasing median wages and uncontrolled inflation under the dotard.

Considering that Kamala openly ran on raising my taxes, I’m making more money than ever and my investments are at ATHs, how am I “worse off?” At the very least, my taxes would be substantially higher had Trump not been elected. Certainly by more than what I’ve paid in incremental tariff-related inflation.

So I’m challenging your “every American” statement.

Factual statement: Tariffs + war have caused inflation and high interest rates.

Factual statement: Kamala’s proposed tax increases would have adversely affected me more than 2.9% tariff- or war-related price increases or interest rates.

Factual statement: OP was wrong in stating that every American is worse off.
