I know it’s a stretch…..but he’s a home run. South Brunswick guy. I know he’s having great success at A&M, but maybe he would see this job as a coming home opportunity to build for long term stability. A&M could turn on him with a couple of “off” years, whereas here, he would be given lots of cushion to succeed. He’s making 11 million a year now.

Its the SEC where even winning coaches are highly disposable. Have 3 bad weeks and lose to Texas, he will be available.

Not when he was passed over multiple times for multiple roles over the past 20 years. He’s very happy where he is. And is making way more than Rutgers is willing to spend.plus his NIL budget is limitless.
I'd venture to guess A&M's definition of "great success" does not include 3-2, losing to a first year head coach at Kentucky and getting throttled by #23 LSU 35-6. To some of our fans that is "great success."

There's last year, yes, but beating Notre Dame and losing to the other two ranked teams they played does not not move the needle for Aggie fans. Jimbo Fischer went from 9-1/8-1 to down the tubes quite quickly.

Yea but that wasn’t the question. He asked can we “pry”? And the answer to that is no. If he doesn’t have a “successful” season. Then he could be available. But he has 6 years left on his contract with an 11.5 mm average salary per year. So even that is a non starter. Because he probably is safe for 2 more seasons.

ask again after they play ranked Tennessee, Missouri, Alabama and Texas and add to their losses to LSU and unranked Kentucky. Kentucky just squeaked by South Carolina, who A&M also still has to play.

imagine being the AD who just committed to a 69M 6 yr contract for that.

Thanks! I was going to post that (but it is 5 years now as it runs through 2031). Also, he would have to buyout (paid by RU) and that is $12 million before this December that is reduced to $8.5 million after December 1 this year. With salary and buyout, RU would likely need at least $13 million per season for him.

Slow week??

This isn’t even a stretch, it’s a never happening. He’s coaching a program that pays very well, has g rest facilities, and provides a healthy NIL budget.

Be honest with yourself, why would he leave? There is nothing that says RU will be long-term stability. There’s your stretch.

Focus on coaches from lower levels or are currently not working as your pool.

Reality check is coming soon enough about the next RU head football coach.
People need to take a look at the list of Rutgers head football coaches since Dick Anderson and the move to the "Big Time".
Who are the big names looking to be the next on that impressive list ?

Sad fact as that those eager to fire GS, they have elevated opinions of who RU could hire give our limitations. We might get lucky with a young coordinator type, but the RU job is extremely challenging. We failed hiring an Ohio State coordinator who was clueless as a head coach. I'm not naive, if this season continues on its current track, a change needs to be made. Hire a senior citizen like Kelly who will demand a long term contract? Doesn't make sense. I'd lean toward Temple's current coach. But that entails a lot of risk in its own right. Bottom line, a real challenging position.

So you’ll pass on someone that is 64. And your top choice is a 67 year old. That’s an odd take.

I have been following KC since his days at Rowan. Has been a winner everywhere he’s been.

Do you understand that Ash was the wrong hire at the wrong time?

Think back to the events of that time, both the AD and head coach were fired. The AD was hired a few weeks before Ash. The BOG did most of the interviews for both because it was impossible for an AD with no football experience to hire someone that fast.

The BOG had no idea what the state of the program was at the time. It required an experienced hire not a first time head coach.

Zinn will make calls to a few head coaches that she’s worked with in the past. If not one of them, they will look at G5 head coaches that fit the criteria. If it’s a coordinator from any level they need to have an impressive resume IMO to be considered.

Yes you have an extremely odd take. The guy is 64. He's ready to retire. How many winning coaches arrived at his age to do a gut renovation Einstein? Answer is zero.

Do you understand that many of the anti GS people thought hiring a young energic coordinator from The Ohio State was a win for RU? Think back. Who has Zinn hired as a head football coach genius? Her bosses hired and fired Kelly at a huge cost.

So who would you hire as an experienced winning coach at a high level who would accept the RU job? BTW, Ash had an impressive coordinator resume or do you not understand that?

Didn’t. say I want either. But you disqualified one for being 64 and the person you are intrigued with and “would lean toward” is 3 years his senior. Keep name calling. Especially when you make ignorant statements.
And Curt Cignetti says hello. You know Einstein he’s 65. Literally Gut Reno personified.

No, 6 year, 69 million $$$ contract. E en if let go he will have better options
Yeah, I don't think that's going to be a problem. They paid Jimbo Fischer over $76 mil. to leave. As long as the oil keeps pumping, nothings off limits for Texas A&M.

Better options in who? Losing at Texas A&M, with all the money you could ask for at your disposal, is not looked kindly in the college football world. No one in P4 except the low hanging fruit is going to touch him as a head coach. As a DC sure, as a head coach no way in hell.

At the time Ash was considered a good hire, but as I explained (with the benefit of hindsight) and you are ignoring, no one knew that the program was as toxic as an EPA Superfund site. Ash pretty much admitted it shortly after he arrived and dismissed some players. If the AD hadn't been a DEI hire herself and done a good job, then maybe they could have avoided this because they would have known what was going on within the program.

I'm still up in the air on who they should hire. Kelly has red flags from some of the stuff that came out when he was fired from LSU. I'm not sure Neal Brown moves the needle much. It just needs to be someone with an offensive background and I'm still trying to figure out who in the G5 world meets the criteria to make the jump up.

The other meats in Texas are far superior to Pork Roll.
Elko might come for the pizza and bagels .
But he better bring along a lifetime supply of Rolaids which will be used up his first year as the RU FB HC trying to get the RU Booster to act like the TAM ones he left and having to replace the great slow-smoked beef brisket he was eating in Texas for Jersey Pork Roll

Apples and oranges squared.
1. It wasn't "anti-GS" people who wanted Ash hired. IIRC, he came from out of nowhere. The BOG basically had him in place and foisted him on Hobbs. Ash was a zero from his first presser and his first game versus Howard.

2. Zinn and prior ADs aren't in the same league. What do Zinn's bosses have to do with her own decisions?
