1st half last week Cowboys were in max protection running 2 man routes. Brian Broaddus on 105.3 Fan said this actually hurt the offense because Texans sat in zone with 6-7 players getting home with only 4-5. They were also creating pressure up the middle not allowing Dak to step up.

2nd half they made adjustments with multiple people in routes and according to Merrill Hodge old Steeler guy that is a film grinder these days he said Dak didn't miss one read in the second half. Texans made it a point to try and take away Pickens and Lamb ate their lunch.

This team is built to outscore other teams in order to win. Anything short of 30 may not win but everybody knows that and it puts a ton of pressure on the offense and Dak. We need 2nd half Dak on a consistent basis. That's not fair but you'll never hear Dak say that. Unfortunately when you get paid like Dak, play for the Cowboys and QB a team that the expectation going into the year is that you have to win with offense then any misstep is going to be highly criticized. When that misstep occurs and it will then it will be highly magnified. That's just the way it is here and Jerah, Schotty are not immune to the crossfire.

To be fair, you also have to consider Jerruh's roster construction.
Offense: $164,364,661
Defense: $96,099,545
Special: $8,983,333
They are getting what they paid for.

It gets even WORSE in 2027.
Offense: $210,146,163
Defense: $111,138,471
Special: $8,178,334

I realize the QB position skews numbers (especially with 1st year signing bonuses), but the allocation of money cap space seems "suboptimal".

Other examples...

49ers
Offense: $147,008,039
Defense: $106,555,759
Special: $4,101,000

Chiefs
Offense: $136,197,868
Defense: $136,740,893
Special: $10,080,000

Eagles aren't that great, and look at their spending. Similar to the Cowboys. With a similar record.
Offense: $150,726,293
Defense: $72,002,445
Special: $7,216,666

Rams are also 2-2.
Offense: $193,805,554
Defense: $101,923,973
Special: $3,827,000

On the flip side, teams that go defensive heavy seem to not get it done either (excluding generational defenses like the 2000 Ravens).

Steelers
Offense: $106,207,157
Defense: $171,967,187
Special: $7,298,334

Ravens
Offense: $116,665,564
Defense: $170,697,449
Special: $3,466,905

I'm also not saying there is a magic ratio because ultimately you have to pay the RIGHT players, regardless of position.

Lastly, I want you to look at the top of these spends. Need to shout this from the mountain tops.

Good stuff. I've heard some talking heads float the idea of having two caps. One for QB and the other for the rest of the team. I kind of like that idea. One thing is pretty certain without a QB in the NFL it's hard to win at a high level.

Dak could renegotiate his contract if he really wants a Super Bowl.

Actually there are quite a few parallels. 1st time head coaches, bend but don't break defense that breaks too much, no pass rush, really good DBs when healthy, QB centric team with Really good QB play, good to great receivers, Money FG kickers, starting RB is a banger that's always falling forward for extra yards.

He agreed to in March freeing up salary cap space this year. It was a restructure not sure you are going to get any NFL
Player to take a salary reduction these days especially someone who puts up Dak type numbers. We just need those numbers in the playoffs.

IMO, the 2 best paths to winning a Super Bowl...
1) QB on the cheap. Either still on their rookie contract or a journeyman on a friendly deal.
2) Have an obvious HOF QB.

Off the top of my head, only Jalen Hurts and maybe Eli Manning are the outliers. I hope Brock Purdy is that guy, but I doubt it.

Having a Top 5-paid QB who isn't a consensus Top 5 player is a killer.

Obviously not a Niners fan like you but I do like Purdy. Every time I want to get happy about him not working out for you guys he has a strong year like this one so far.

I do think Dak can win a SB with Dallas he's got us a 1 and 2 seed just need to deliver in the playoffs. It's the last thing on his resume. You could make an argument for the HOF if he went on a few playoff heaters over the next few years and won just 1 SB with or without the Cowboys.

True. Whenever JJ dies I guess his son takes over. More than likely he will be like daddy.
Possibly worse because Jerry may be incompetent as a GM but he is not cheap. Stephen is cheap and almost got into a fist fight with Jerry after he signed Sanders. That only helped win another SB so yea, not much light at the end of the tunnel for Cowboys fans even when Jerry moves on.....which it's been rumored over the last few years that he already has for the most part and Stephen is actually running the show with Jerry having final say. Fun times in Big D ****
