Just play winning football. Who worries so much about helmets, shoes, jerseys?

Every coach I played for through college was the opposite of this mindset.

How you look and how you practice matter. It's why if you ever play for a program that wears black as a primary, they promote it, coaches want you to look like you're headed to a funeral and play like it. This is professional sports, how you're branded is MAJOR and is a major point of emphasis that organizations spend millions and millions of dollars on. Fans don't want to look like sht and they don't want the team to either. Players don't want to look like **** either. Look at Stein, we have a coach that understands it, look how he dresses vs. Stoops.

Imagine this line of thinking for work. Who cares how the company looks as long as the math is there. So lose the suits, show up in flip flops and a 5 day old white T you were roofing in? Because the quota was met? It's why Gen Z is having a hard time when they have to show up and work 5 days per week wearing real clothes and not furry people shoes and stripper shorts. (Although I do appreciate and their lack of self awareness)

This is one of the most bizarre takes to me that's ever existed on this board. To think there's a large minority that doesn't care if they come out in checkers and silver bullet love egg helmets. How about win and look the role too? Alabama LSU Georgia everyone is majorly into branding and forced Nike to keep in line. As an athlete you want to look good and win doing it not look like **** and win doing it. The uniforms are mostly gorgeous right now so I don't have many complaints. Who doesn't want to see that? Wild to me.

I don’t mind an occasional power K but it would be better if the opponent would wear their old school jersey as well.
I also loved the black uniform from a few years ago. I’d like to see it on occasion as well.

So if they went out there in nothing but their jockstraps and lost, would you be happy or sad?
I'm 100% certain they'd play in gear, but I could see you fantasizing about their jockstraps. Again, who gives a damn? You trying to flip gear or autographs? You think recruits sign on because they like the uniform? Win the games.

Okay now I know you didn't play sports. Not everyone does so I'm not being an ******* hope it doesn't come off that way. But yes athletes care greatly about what they wear. Greatly.

Athletes spend hours in front of mirrors looking at themselves in their gear hyping up. Believe it or not in recruiting when a decision cannot be made and both finalist are 50/50, yes they can be swayed but gear and what they wear. Oregon has literally created an entire brand build around their gear and colorways.

Players despised the checkerboards and actually commented on it on social media. They absolutely take notice.

A lot of athletes are young black kids, what they wear is a major part of why they love playing.

You want to look the part, you want good branding and clean uniforms. It's astounding to me how a small minority legit couldn't care less if they look like ***. It's foreign to athletes that I can absolutely tell you. In baseball it's nearly as important as the game itself to baseball players.

This. I know its weird but its correct. Oregon built a powerhouse program well before nil solely on the back of really cool exclusive gear. That's literally what built their program.

Just look at any recruiting pic. The players are almost always in pads etc with their choice of accessories and posing for pics they'll put on socials.

Maybe this is why Pope struggles. He doesn’t win!

I'm glad we can make 100% guarantees that our players will be wearing clothes during the game, not a lot of sure things these days.

I’d be quite happy if we just went with this permanently. It’s a cool non-gimmicky classic look. And unlike the generic interlocking logo, the power K gives us a distinctive symbol that nobody else has and sets us apart.
I personally hope we never see the old ones again
