Nate

Nate Oats is not coming here ,he just signed and extension and won't leave so forget this
I agree with that. I said it first go around. Nate doesn’t need Kentucky now with nil around. Bama gives him plenty to work with and the pressure is non existent. Nil has changed how these coaches view the blueblood jobs. Why inherit the added pressure of win or get fired when you can pay for recruits at these other schools with almost zero pressure.

Kentucky Athletic Department (and some donors) are currently paying off a $37.7 million dollar buyout for Stoops, paid $6 Million for Pope's buyout from BYU (no longer owed).

To fire Pope right now, the buyout is 75% of his remaining contract salary (or $17.6 million). Firing him after this season, the buyout drops but is still $13.5 million (and that's assuming he doesn't make a sweet 16 this year and trigger another 1 year auto extension).

Then add to that paying Oats buyout (or another top caliber coaching hire), Oats is $15 million through March 2027, $12 Million through March 2028, and $0 starting April 1, 2028.

The school would be on the hook for over $70 million right now if they tried to fire Pope and hire Oats (or similar). That's not a small amount of money. And that number in only that small because we didn't have to pay Cal's buyout. Happy or not, poor performing or not, waiting for the buyout numbers to make sense (Pope's and his replacement) makes the most economic sense for those making those decisions. It's easy to say you want him gone when it isn't your money.

Mitch really couldn't have been a worse contract AD.

We’re not hiring Oats. That’s a pipe dream. He recently got married and allegedly has his kids in Tuscaloosa. He isn’t leaving Alabama.

But if Pope does poorly this year, he has to go. We cannot afford a 4th season. That’s how you end up like Indiana. Accepting mediocrity.

I didn't advocate for Oats. He was used as an example because other people posted earlier about wanting Oats and his buyout numbers had already been discussed.

Again, if Pope does poorly, he probably "deserves" to go. But whether or not he gets fired or not is a financial decision, not a wins losses one and has nothing to do with accepting mediocrity. The standard doesn't change, we all have the right to be mad and call for a change of coaches, but unless we are writing the buyout checks, our opinion doesn't matter. $70 million doesn't just grow on trees alongside Richmond Road.

I was with firing Pope after this season but with the Trent Noah injury hes game plan and team he built to compliment Noah is messed up now. He will get a year 5 to make it right.

Agree. Give me Billy G all day every day over Pope. Been saying this.
The only things BCG did better, is a sweet 16 prior to coming to UK, which doesn't matter… and getting drunk.
BCG literally did nothing, even at a satisfactory level, while at UK and his best wins, don't even make Pope's top 10.
Just admit you don't like Pope, you don't have to make ridiculously bad statements.

If we get another 35 point beat down where the team looks like they would take a big dump on the sacred cloth I hope BBN boos Pope till he cries and steps down.
Just fn stop ruining every thread . What a low life worthless POS. You're pathetic. If I was a mod I would ban you and every single account you ever create. This is what Kentucky does and has done for some time. It's a dud hire, it was always a dud hire. It's the last of the butthole barnhart scrubs. Mark Pope is not Kentucky material - fact. Never was - fact. If you think he is, out his resume up and stop talking. I want to see his head coaching resume without the mouth and without his name even attached, but the same Cowboys are doing their thing again, only they lost a cow and gained a cow.

Why in the world would a UK fan sit by and watch this nonsense go on in this program. I don't know. But either way he's gone soon and that's going to happen either way. Kentucky will make the right hire next because they have to. The barnhart era will officially be dead and the usual suspects will jump again and pretend they never supported Pope in the first place.
There's nothing wrong with supporting the coach while he is the coach and still be able to criticize and doubt whether he should remain the coach.

Pope getting fired has always been a booster decision. If they want him gone, then he is gone. They have the money to fork over for a buyout or choosing to sit on their money as protest for keeping him too long.

Turd sandwiches either way like someone said this morning lol. Records are damn near identical.
Identical? So one coach played the 3rd and 4th ranked schedules in his 2 seasons, the other coach played schedules ranked 42nd (lost 13 games) 66th (lost 14 games) and went to the NIT, because he didn't beat anyone worth a damn.

Pope was a 3 seed his first year, do you understand how he got a 3 seed after losing 11 games?

I mean, you are some kind of stupid if you don't understand this.

Again, BCG doesn’t have a single win that would make Pope’s top 10 and nobody cares what BCG accomplished at aTm, so don't even go there.

On the flip side, BCG has a bunch of embarrassing losses on his UK resume, Gardner Webb in Rupp was awful, but you’re trying to say Pope is worse? Give me a break.

Im rolling with BIlly G Paul. Sure he was terrible but we didn't get made fun of nationally. Pope is terrible just like Billy but we get made fun of and used like a hooker in a wild west saloon.

And as far as the record my bad. Misread the 46 for 40
Wait, you don't think we got made fun of in the BCG days? Are you stupid, or was it just too long ago for you to remember?

Sh*t, other fanbases tried to make fun of us during Cal's 2009-2015 years, what does that tell you?

But you’re reaching here, you now realize you put your foot in your mouth and now you're searching for reasons to support BCG, which is hilarious.

Billy Gs team will do Popes team exactly like Georgia does them. Come on man Pope can't even beat Georgia. Can't even beat Bama one time out of how many?

I don't know for sure but im pretty sure Billy G beat them at least once. JUST ONCE
If only Gardner Webb cared about the wrath of BCG.

You’re a joke. Again, BCG doesn’t have a single win that would make Pope's top 10.

Nothing wrong with it at all. And nothing wrong with how anybody else wants to fan. Quit worrying about how people fan so much little bitchboy
It's funny, I haven't seen you say this stuff to the ones running around here trolling the guys that are choosing to stay positive.
Nobody asked an idiot to enter the thread and start talking about how Pope is worse than BCG. These people ruin every thread they enter.
Yet you go after those that are just trying to be positive.

Interesting name for one of the biggest crybabies on here. Fake AI garbage amounts to nothing. Off to ignore yet again.
I love the time you spend replying. And then even coming back and editing most post. And actually I've never been a cry baby. I've always stated how you and your crew are crybaby.

I never got offended by one thing you've ever said. Yall are just sensitive and once again CANT TAKE WHAT YOU DISH OUT

Handle your business how you want to handle your business. If you want to ignore others, fine, do that, hell, you might as well ignore me, I really don't care.

I'm tired of the ridiculous bullsh*t on here. Pope has been here 2 years, both were riddled with injuries to key players, y'all act like he went to the NIT and lost in the first round both years. That's how ridiculous the comments are.

Truth is, Pope competed against top 4 strength of schedules both years and after starting with zero players his first year, he lost his starting sf, lost his backup pg, had a hobbled pg and a hobbled pf. He swept UT, beat Florida, beat duke and won at Gonzaga. He made the sweet 16, again, with a heavily injured roster.

But we have idiots in here saying he's worse than BCG. Make that make sense. Yes, they are idiots. Deal with it.

Can't take what we dish out? How so? We're still here, replying, so exactly how is it that we "can't take what we dish out" and what exactly are we dishing out? Positivity? OOOOOHHHHH, scary.
