The Scorpions approve.

It's technically just "Scorpions", no "The"... which is stupid and I hate, because the phrase "I went to see Scorpions in Vegas last week" sounds like you went to the desert and saw some stinging arachnids.

So I still use the The as well. I just felt like correcting someone on the internet this morning. You're welcome**

Going to plant my green fields tomorrow and hope for the best. It’s really, really dry. We got nothing last weekend.

That’ll suck for all the students driving back to Starkville from the Coast on Sunday, since fall break runs this Thursday through Sunday.

So someone is saying that we are going to “the Walmart” or “the Kroger” is not correct? That’s just crazy talk.

This weekend is Cruising The Coast on the Ms coast and it’s Shrimp Fest in Gulf Shores. Someone isn’t living right!

Have an Orange Beach trip planned for Thursday to Monday. Looks more and more like I’m canceling tomorrow.
I can sit at home and watch it rain and spend far less $$

I hope when you get the chance to correct someone today, it makes you feel good, almost as good as it makes ne to correct your dumb ***.

"The" in my post is not part of the band's title. "The" is a definite article used before a noun to show that it refers to a unique item, to set the noun, in this case Scorpions, apart from the more generic use of the term. Thus, in this case, "The" makes it clear to most readers (yourself excepted) that I am referring to the great German metal band and not a collection of desert creatures with a surprising, often deadly, sting.

Damn, it does feel good. Now 17 off.

Starting to get some model consensus on this becoming a hurricane, but they won't get a good handle on strength and timing until it develops into an official tropical system. Best guess is somewhere between Baton Rouge and Pensacola.

If you're referring to a particular Walmart or Kroger, like the one down the street you always go to, you would be correct in using the "the" definite article. Referencing any of the multiple Walmarts in the big city, then you could use the indefinite "a" or just the reduced version "Walmart" for casual conversation.
Use case: You're on a trip to the coast and your wife realizes she's forgot to pack the sunscreen and she says "stop at a Walmart so I can grab some baby oil.
Darryl has inspired me to be as pedantic as possible this afternoon.

When you get timing on it do you mind posting your thoughts? I figure there's several folks heading that way since it is fall break. We are planning on heading that way late Friday to get there Saturday morning

Currently in PCB. Was coming back towards Memphis Saturday. Now I’m trying to decide if I need to leave early Friday.
