Receivers and TE’s are getting open. With the O-line struggling, we need a quicker QB who can roll out, buy more time, and hit targets when they’re open. You have to try Heck. You can always go back, but I could see Heck take it over.
The oline pass protection hasn't been bad this year. It's the one thing they've excelled at. Iowa is 15th nationally in sacks allowed percentage and sacks allowed per game.

The o-line hasn't struggled one bit in pass protection.

Edit: beat me to it, Jones

Washington is 126th nationally with 15 sacks allowed. Washington only converts on third down 29% of the time. So obviously you pin your ears back and bring pressure on third down.

Hecklinski should be rolling out, play action and hitting short to intermediate routes using tight ends. Lots of Phillips carries. What I hope to see.

For everyone clamoring for Heck over Hank.. Tell me why, because there isn't a single statistical metric that supports your position.

AYPA
Hank 7.15
Heck 5.72

Completion Percentage
Hank 62.9%
Heck 52.3%

Interception Percentage
Hank .9
Heck 3.1

TD Percentage
Hank 4.0
Heck 3.1

Passer Rating
Hank 131
Heck 115

QBR
Hank 63.7
Heck 22.4
Lolol.. You already know the answer to the question. Its been the same for most of Kirks time here. Internet posters know more about who's ready to play QB at Iowa then the entire coaching staff combined. This is not new.

Good call, I think this is Phillips breakout game, get the kid some carries...at one point in OSU game he was WIDE open on screen that he might have housed yet Hank zeroed in on a double covered RVZ for an incompletion...sigh...

I don't think that's it. There are a few Kirk can do no wrongs on here that were certain that Hecklinski should be starting before the season started and were never able to move off that position in spite of all evidence to the contrary. The OSU game only solidified that position.

Hanks played fine until today. I guess it took one week to forget some of the throws he made at Michigan. Like you said OSU played soft coverage on Hecks drive. Yet of course we're going to throw the baby out with the bath water. Typical.....
He missed an easy td a couple plays before the td. He misses a lot of easy throws. It was a nice win against Michigan, but with a better qb we win by two scores.
