Harer will start if healthy, and I’d be awfully concerned if he can’t beat out Nini for the job. Nini is much better at freestyle than folkstyle.

I would assume these sites don't project true freshmen starters unless they're the cream of the crop like a Bassett. I assume Brandt will start and do well for us.

Correct. If you've college results from opens coming into college then they will rank you but if not you won't be ranked until you get some matches

We will know real fast this year Nov 22 at KeyStone Open at Penn.. it looks pretty competitive this year if all the teams listed shows up, including VT, Mizzou, Nebraska.. etc

Henson, Echemendia, Mendoza, Wasilewski, and even Santaniello of Drexel now in that 149 bracket if everyone shows up.. if Brandt shows out here could put the nation on notice 🤞

My expectations are optimistic but tempered. True freshman coming into the B1G, excelling in the middle weights is no easy feat and one that is rare at Rutgers.

I, too, am cautiously optimistic. I do expect Brandt to do very well, but maybe not to our expectations, given his scholastic record. I had mentioned earlier (and took flak) that his participation in elite tournaments was limited. He did win a Super 32, but he wasn't a fixture at the other tournaments where we've seen the super-freshmen from last year's crop. I'm thinking wrestlers like Bassett, Jax, Duke, Seidel, Blaze, Davino, and ... We pretty much knew what to expect from those guys. Why didn't Harer compete in those elite tournaments? Given his HS record, I might have expected to see him out there. Let's hope he's ready to compete on a higher level.

I agree and we have certainly been burned in the past before for having too much expectations. That’s why I usually try to be realistic/not much expectations until there is proof. Every year though I’m hopeful we can land a recruit that can compete for AA status every year right out the gate(Knox looking good) …. It happens every year where a true fresh/freshman comes in n contends right away.. and usually it’s the blue chippers but it doesn’t always have to be… here are some recent recruits that had great careers that weren’t top recruits even out of high school:

V Robinson(nc as true freshman), Ventresca, Stanich, S Buchanan, even Jesse Delgado, who was 75th class recruit came outa no where… and ofc Seabass killed it too as a diamond in the rough…

Some of the middle weights that weren’t top 50 big boarders recently include: Vombour, Frost, V Zerban, Caliendo, Devos….

Yeah I agree with this. He's clearly very skilled but a level below the crop of freshmen that came up and dominated last season. I would expect him to maintain a rank in the 10-20 range and hopefully make some noise at the tournament. That would be an excellent first season.

I mean why can’t he have the success of V Robinson, Caliendo, Stanich, J Delgado etc in his first season? Brandt was ranked higher as a prospect out of HS than all these guys…. I mean it shouldn’t be the expectation that he can come in and contend right away but why can’t it be possible… most wins ever out of PA and excellent top game… let’s c what happens…
