You should be careful. Your cologne, Eau De MidtermDesperation, is highly flammable. Besides, it smells like a Trump-soiled diaper.

So you admit you have experience with the scent of soiled adult diapers..... We didn't need to know that.

Reflections on The Riots in France

A glimpse of the future that the progressive left keeps prescribing

https://danielclarkeserret.substack.com/p/reflections-on-the-riots-in-france

The latest unrest in France offers an occasion to examine a country whose political habits are precisely those American progressives keep urging us to adopt: expensive barriers to hiring, immigration without a serious demand for assimilation, and a government expected to pay for nearly everything.

Why no jobs for young people?

France’s unemployment rate for ages 15 to 24 is a staggering 21.6%, versus only 9.1% in the U.S. That is a lot of young people with afternoons free for “improving” education with a cigarette lighter and a crowbar.

When I studied and worked in Europe, I was struck by how many young people I met who had literally never worked a day in their lives. Working with Alcatel and other local companies, I learned part of the reason: if you hire somebody in France, you’re practically married to them. Except in marriage, a spouse occasionally leaves voluntarily.

So employers make sure they desperately need someone before taking the plunge. When a bad hire can become a lengthy legal ordeal, “let’s give the kid a chance” loses much of its appeal.

France’s astronomical minimum wage makes it all the worse. It stands at over 62% of the median wage, versus roughly 25% for the federal minimum in the U.S. This is really basic Econ 101: if a rookie’s work is worth less than €12.31 an hour plus onerous mandatory benefits, the rookie doesn’t get hired.2

More....... Do you think the idiots on the left can learn from this? LOL... No f'ing way.

Assimilation: apparently an unreasonable request

A country needs more than a labor market. It needs enough agreement about its basic rules to keep disagreements from becoming street battles. That is no longer a given in France.

Over 34% of France’s under-18 population is of first-, second-, or third-generation immigrant origin. Two thirds of the immigration comes from the Third World, and 44% arrives from Muslim-majority countries (compared to only 4% in the U.S.).

Many of these newcomers do not share commonly held French values and feel no affinity for French society. Fewer than a quarter of foreign-born residents “feel French.”

Of the major Muslim-majority countries sending immigrants to France, only one (Senegal) is a democracy. A large percentage of these immigrants flatly reject laïcité, the strict tradition of secular government that France has cherished for more than a century. A country that hosts millions who feel no affinity for its traditions or its people is ripe for civil unrest.

Assimilation should be A1 on the list of requirements for immigrants into western countries. Learning the language and customs of the host nation is the most reasonable and respectful way to show you intend to be a part of that society. That is basic, common sense.

It's not common sense to liberals.... I'm surprised they have said that having an immigrant learn the Pledge of Allegiance is racist.

Why France Is Burning

Democrats. That's why. Not sure what they are called in France, but it's the answer.

https://www.thefp.com/p/france-student-protests-melenchon?utm_campaign=realclearpolitics

A big part of the answer lies with a man named Jean-Luc Mélenchon. Mélenchon is the leader of France Unbowed, the country’s principal radical-left party, known by its French initials, LFI. In the 2022 French presidential election, Mélenchon won almost 22 percent of the vote, narrowly missing the runoff between the top two contenders. And with the current president, Emmanuel Macron, barred from a third consecutive term, the presidency is up for grabs this coming April. Some polls suggest the race could become a runoff between Mélenchon and Marine Le Pen.

To advance his political prospects ahead of the election, Mélenchon’s strategy appears to be to capitalize on the discontent currently roiling the country. After all, the problems are not limited to the schools. Public debt has reached 119 percent of national output. On Thursday, the government proposed a $61 billion budget squeeze, even as demands for better public services grow. The French parliament is deeply divided, and investors are increasingly anxious as the economy teeters. Meanwhile, just a few days ago, the investigative outlet Mediapart accused Jordan Bardella, president of the far-right National Rally, of sending antisemitic private messages early in his career. Bardella denies the allegations and says he has filed a defamation lawsuit.

Mélenchon’s answer to the country’s troubles? Confrontation. In a 2012 speech, he argued that progressive political action must “turn everything it touches into conflict.” His opponents call this approach bordélisation—roughly, making a mess of everything. Mélenchon calls it a citizens’ revolution. In his account, people who feel abandoned by the existing parties can be brought together against a common adversary and remake the country’s institutions. Keeping the conflict alive is part of the plan.

That’s why Mélenchon and his party have actively supported the protests. Over the past few days, LFI lawmakers have appeared at school gates and called for the blockades to spread, while Mélenchon has urged his elected representatives and activists to place themselves between students and police and intervene against the law enforcement response. In Saint-Denis, north of Paris, LFI mayor Bally Bagayoko told protesters that while it was preferable to keep protests peaceful, “violence, at some point, can be legitimate.”

Quiet about what? I'm disgusted by what's happening there and do not approve. Do you need help understanding the words I've posted in this thread?

Liar. You are not disgusted. You are a leftist and support it. Stop pretending to be rational.

Same immigration policies you actively vote for caused this…
How can you vote for something you didn't know would happen? You magas are so fuggin weird. Joe was the VP for the president known as the deporter in chief but because he unexpectedly mis-managed the border, that means that suddenly ALL Democrats approve of what happened at the border on his watch?

Kamala Harris was the border czar. You watched her allow 15 million illegal aliens into this country then proudly voted for her… now you’re making excuses and claiming you had no idea. We all see it.

They do this every single time. Complete liars, captured by their woke religion. Just flat out lie. I’ve said in this board 1000000x that we need careful selection for immigration because you just can’t have an open gate for millions of people. Nothing good comes from that. The economic and societal impact are going to be negative, vastly negative. What do people like @dpic73 say to me, “you’re a racist, you hate brown people.” They divert and lie and smear and twist. The only way they didn’t know this was possible is because they refused to listen and instead wanted to disparage every counter argument as racist or whatever. They’re not to be trusted. These are liars that will never be truthful, woke liberalism is there god, not truth, not good.

The important part is they broadcasted their hollow virtue on the internet for all to see. That’s what’s most important to them. They will claim their policies make them a better person than you then claim they had no clue how disastrous their policies would be in reality so it actually isn’t their fault. Remember, they’re the “good guys” after all..

What a f’ing liar. Woke leftist liar. Trash.
In 2020, Biden and the Democratic platform were explicit about reversing major Trump-era policies (ending Remain in Mexico / MPP, pausing wall construction, shifting enforcement priorities, expanding pathways, etc.). Many of the resulting border dynamics were widely predicted by both supporters and critics at the time. But you didn’t know. Stfu.

The best description I’ve heard is, they care about the APPEARANCE of doing good, not actually doing good. The positions are typically very topical and can be pulled apart because there’s no consistency to the message (****** for Palestine). Their positions are surface level, low IQ level slop. They’ve never met an immigrant or trans person that’s got bad intentions. Only white people are evil, specifically Christian’s. Party of placating.

They didn’t know. That was just the entire election platform of the guy that they voted for without an ID 65 times each. Bidens entire stump was “whatever Trump did I’ll do the opposite.” Now that I think about it, they are probably so f’ing stupid that they in fact didn’t know. That’s actually not surprising considering the interactions with them in here. Obvious things go right over their tiny heads.

Even a dumba$$ like you knows that Sleepy Joe’s border fiasco was a complete f’en disaster.

Hopefully the red wave continues growing & we don’t get more libtards elected to make this any worse, right Dickpic?
