Man no pleasing some of y'all.
Here's a stat line for you.
In 11 games as a sophomore after having 7 games of experience as a FR 146-253 for 57% completion 6TD 6Int. 1644 yards.
That QB is andre Woodson BTW.

Now compare that to Kennys 5 games.
97-142 for 68% completion%. 11 TD 1 INT 1148 yds
After throwing a whole 23 passes before starting. Kenny should be on pace for a 2500-2800 yard season at least with 20 something TD passes.

Will Levis and SJ are the only two QBs that I would consider capable since Mike Hartline
Will levis stats for his first year will probably be around what Kennys end up being 24 ish TD passes but Will also threw 13 picks.
SJ is one of my favorite QBs to ever come through here and his stats were like
2200 yards on like 10 TD passes and 6 picks in his best year.

I think Kenny is doing great for a first starting job. I have seen a decent amount of development out of him since game 1 and I'm no football coach. Some of yall just find things to wine about.
He’s tremendous, if he keeps up this pace his stats will be amazing.

Take Terry Wilson for example. We had a really great year in 2018 with him. 13GP- 1889 yards/11TD/8INT

Kenny almost matched that in 5 games with 1 pick. Here are his stats extrapolated to the same 13 game sample size.

Simply extending his current per-game production over a 13-game regular season:

Stat13-Game Projection
Completions252
Attempts369
Completion %68.3%
Passing yards2,985
Yards/attempt8.1
Passing TDs29
INTs3
Passer rating~160
Passing yards/game229.6

If we recruited a QB from HS or the portal and you told us those would be his stats at the end of the year everyone would be like we must get him!

All I know is those two passes in OT against South Carolina were two of the best plays I've ever seen by a UK quarterback.

And the kid does seem to have ice water running in his veins.
How many times have we had QBs make successive scoring passes to win a game, SEC or otherwise, especially when we are the underdog. There is no question that what Minchey did was very special.

He made a great play but it wasn't the portion you focus on. On the 2 pt conversion, he identified a blitz. He slid protection and made sure Baxter knew who he was responsible for. That was elite operation, which i talked about often in this thread.

The two throws were the easiest part of those two plays. Both times guys were schemed wide open. The second time it was a single defender read so there is that.

Massive kudos to those play designs and the hustle to the line. Massive kudos to minchey for elite operation and getting the protection ironed out.

30TDs to 3 picks with 3,000 yards sounds like a 5 star to me.

So....are you giving him credit for those plays that he identifies the defense and gets us into the right play/protection....

I think he's a ton better than you giver him credit for. I'd say Minchey will be a top half SEC QB on the year.....

Right now for sure hes' better than
Tennessee
Texas AM
Vandy
LSU (I'm sorry but Leavitt is not a good QB today)
Arkansas
Auburn
Oklahoma

Off to a fantastic start this season but.....qb play must get better. He is missing reads and not seeing guys that are open. Missing throws at times. Has a weird lack of pocket presence much of the time.

Right now the staff is scheming almost every completion. He has to improve if we're going to have a great season. Cant leave this many yards on the table and keep winning tough games.

Good news is, with the recruiting pitch we can put out there, this is probably the least talented qb stein will have in his time here.

I said many times his operation is elite. Its post snap where he needs to improve. He's taking short stuff when the deeper route is open. He is leaving probably 75 yards per game on the field.

He can grow. Against SC he finally started climbing the pocket and got some firsts with his legs. Till now, he was reluctant to do that. He'd escape horizontal and get caught. That's huge.

Hopefully he starts fully taking advantage of what this offense is giving him. It will be the difference between a good season and a special one

The throw on the TD was probably not easy. He had to step up into the collapsing pocket, be patient, and was really feeling pressure on his right and then that little loopy toss seems easy but QBs screw that up all the time by putting too much on the ball. It was not a pretty throw, but it was easy to catch. Succinctly, the circumstances made that an easy throw to eff up. I thought that was very impressive.

This is the best qb we've had in years...we haven't had one that could even remotely read anything that was going on at goal line when we were going for 2
Kenny had to do it but he gave the coaches all the credit. They prepped him for that very formation and told him exactly how to address the shown pressure. It was a great combo of coaching and execution.

I do not know that I agree with the OP, but Stein has said that KM’s best ball is still in front of him. He is still learning how to apply his skills and intelligence to actual game speed and situations. Kenny is really smart and is really dedicated to getting better and learning. I agree for this offense to continue against this schedule, KM needs to continue his trajectory and be more consistent. The really good news is we are 4-1 with 2 SEC road wins and KM has seemingly gotten better most weeks. Our offense will have to put up points this weekend. Our defense is dinged and limited. Kenny is going to have to bring his best so far.

For a game winner it literally couldn't get easier. Of course it was a pressure situation but it was akin to making an open layup as time expired.

Fyi he also had darby open too because of elite play design but will rod was just a bust and he almost dropped it.

Also fyi the subtly elite element of that play design was having Baxter lined up wide then motion in ACROSS the formation. Coming across the formation made the defense all bump coverage by one defender, which ultimately caused the bust for will rod. It also was what got darby open because Baxter coming across to blitz pickup caused his defender to collide with Darby's getting him open too.

Just beyond elite play design. Elite operation by minchey sliding pass pro left and getting baxter on assignment. The throw was easy as it gets for a game winner.
