To be clear, you're stating college men and black men don't like Pat?
His marketing targets those demos
MCAfee covers more than college football is you watch his shows. He’s the Joe Rogan of sports. And they have the same target audience.

You guys are so old school LOOK:
Pat McAfee has an estimated net worth of roughly $80 million
Yep.

Much like "actresses" on OnlyFans. Who make coin as well.

To be fair, I do recognize that is an unfair comparison.

Those OnlyFans gals - presumably - do have some actual skills.
Unlike clowns like Macafee and the ever-burgeoning pollution of "sports personalities".
Unless, of course, one counts "willing to degrade to the level of breeding and pandering to drunk, brain-damaged sports fans" as a skill.

When did it become solely "Old School" to "not be a gin-brained doofus"?
Can't one be "not a gin-brained doofus" without being "Old School"?
Are there not any folks who are not Old School, who nonetheless are not walk-on cast members of Idiocracy?
I think there are.

Up next will be the execution of coaches and players at half time for poor performance. At PS fed to the Lions? We Are the modern Romans college football even has a Colosseum. After all the easiest target market is the Low Volts.
This is no longer far-fetched.

Honestly, turn on ESPN for some random five minutes and you will probably see stuff "stupider" (in every possible way) than this. Truly.

What do you expect from a society thats top job aspiration for a 16 year old is a 'social media influencer'

Related to the other thread about going to college in ten years, well another reason they aren't going is that kids now see these you tubers making millions so they think they can too. Just go out and be loud, do stupid things, etc and you live the good life.

Obviously this guy is an awful human: look..
AI Overview
Yes, Pat McAfee uses his own money for his College GameDay kicking contest, though he has added a corporate match.

How the Funding Works
    • Past Seasons: McAfee funded the high-stakes 33-yard field goal prizes and related charity donations entirely out of his own pocket for the first three seasons, giving away over $6 million.
    • Current Season: The Home Depot matches the dollar amount McAfee offers for the contest, doubling the total prize money available for students.
    • Source of Funds: ESPN executives confirmed that the initial funds come directly from McAfee's personal generosity rather than network production budget

Good for Pat, I’m a capitalist. Make your money. I’m just saying that his thing isn’t for me.

ESPN highest paid guy . Has a podcast , YouTube makes a lot of money . Punter at WVU, place kicker punter for the Indy Colts . Amazing pro stats. Had a talk show in Indy . Did a stint in the WWE . His ESPN daily show gets a lot of top notch guests . Saban oddly enough is on a lot. He’s had Campbell on this year . Western PA guy working class family . Wanted $1,000 to go to a kicking camp to get a scholarship. . His dad said 1k , you can pff off. He then had to scrounge money to play in a bar poker tournament . Won money to pay his tuition to go to the kicking camp and got his WVU scholarship. He’s crazy , but at times has some good stuff . Players and coaches talk openly with him . Love em /hate em kind of guy with his strong personality. I like him in small doses . Not so good on the game day show.
He's a big supporter of President Trump too

Nothing has happened to gameday. It's still on TV every Saturday morning during football season. Pat McAfee makes it enjoyable to watch, IMO. I stopped watching it once Corso started fading which was about 10 years ago. It was so tough to watch him as well as watching Herbie basically carry him through the show. Gameday is in a MUCH better spot now.

Not enough Golden Retreivers I guess.

Also, Kirk seems like the the person who would just take his dog into a supermarket - or some other place he shouldn't be and say "Oh - he's ok."

Is that all that different than a couple of generations of kids seeing athletes become millionaires and then thinking that is their shot at the big time for them too, when a very small percentage actually make it? And then the parents join in with club teams and travel leagues because they want their kid to have an edge.

Hell, once we had small timers heading to Hollywoodland at one time to make it in the big time. If people see people making big bucks, some of them will aspire to doing that too.

The vehicle may change but the number of people that think they can drive it stays relatively high.

You’re correct, but I was just referencing that but the reason game day is like it is now is because we have a social media idiot on there because that’s what society watches now.

I remember it being fun to watch at one point (I stopped when Corso made a pedophile joke after Sandusky) but this is embarrassing. Does anyone actually like this?

Why don't those Beatles cut their hair!! Enough already. Don't watch it. But, millions more are.
