Pope is better than Billy Clyde by a country mile.

That said, neither one of them is UK material.

Worst part about Pope, which arguably makes him worse than Billy G, is that he is “good enough” to keep him for more than 3 years. At least we got rid of Billy after 2 years. How much must we suffer with Pope’s incompetence? 4 years? 5? I’d take 2 years of Billy G over 3 of Pope.

And for as much as Billy was awful off the court, we didn’t the amount of crap thrown on us like we are with Pope. Opposing fans treat him like freaking Tom Crean. It’s legitimately embarrassing that Pope is our coach. And Billy G was screwing coeds!

The strength rating of your opponents is derived by the strength of their opponents and their actual results against those opponents. The SOS and SRS ratings I have given you would appropriately adjust to the actual results of the completed season.

So that means if you have the hardest strength of schedule to begin the season that could change in a case like Texas a%m being overated and us beating them im assuming

Sure feels that way. I understand recruiting isn't easy and theres a lot of factors in play, but I cant understand is how we can be so far behind when we are offering a top10 salary cap. Theres no reason for a school like VaTech or Rutgers or Baylor to battle with us for players.. the only reasonable explanation then, is that Mark Pope is just not good at this.

Im not saying we should just go land 5 guys in the top10.. but the bare minimum for Kentucky in this NIL era should be a top5 recruiting class. A good coach should be able to sleep walk his way to an elite class when he has UKs NIL money snd facilities backing him.

And if Pope cant do that (and hes clearly far off as of now), then what are we doing here?

It's not as straight forward as you think.

Yeah i definitely think there are hurdles with NIL... but, guys like Hurley, Cal and Scheyer seem to get almost anyone they want. Guys like Oats isnt too far behind.

We have to be doing better than this. Doesnt have to be perfect, but we're putting out (apparantly) close to $20mil for rosters and were getting borderline NIT teams. I mean nothing about this roster makes me think were gonna do much. Who *could* make this roster work is someone like a Hurley or a Pitino who can do more with less. Their coaching, through their own strengths, is able to turn less-than rosters into something that just wins. And I havent seen that from Pope. Saw a bit of it year 1, but im starting to think that was a bit of a fluke... more about having like 7 fifth-year seniors who dont make many mistakes.
