Deion had his son and Travis' talent to hep him look good.
Sanders did make Colorado better, but like Schiano can't move their program from pretty good to very good
I won't knock him except to say, those that put him on a pedestal should realize its over time someone shows their greatness and not just in the beginning.
Deion Sanders might just be over-matched as a P-4 HC , but the hype he brought with him to Colorado did make the Buffalo into a nationwide college football fan favorite.
Despite how the team looks now, Sanders was a good hire, just now his time had passed and the Buffs need to bring in someone that could make Colorado into what they looked like they were becoming right after Deion went there to take the program. out of the dumpster

Come on, Stanford coming into the game was a team that was 1-4 and with a loss to FCS Sacamento State. Schiano loses, you wouldn't defend him, you'd nail him to a fvcking cross.
Nope, if Prime Time doesn't get is done he should get the axe.

Sander's problems have been health and media/cfb teams driving away recruits.
He was treated for a "high-grade, very high-risk non-muscle-invasive bladder cancer" last year.
The cancer was found during CT scans for his ongoing clotting issues (inherited) that caused toe and partial calf amputations
Recruits and families dont want to sign-on to that - Sanders is not long for this earth

A few years ago Sanders kept losing recruits because media and other cfb teams kept saying Sanders would leave with Shedeur which was never a possibility since DS actually loves Colorado. The NFL trying to hinder Shedeur's drafting didn't help either.

Health issues aside, it's on Sanders to have the answers to those claims. If he lost them, he didn't do a good enough job convincing the recruits and/or their parents. But you're ignoring the many missteps he's made along the way that have also impacted people wanting to suit up for him.

Now just come out and say you're pro-Deion. The NFL comment about Shedeur is comical. The kid did everything wrong in the pre-draft process and hasn't acquitted himself well thus far that he should have been a first round pick. Your play on the field determines who was right and the NFL scouting departments currently have the lead.

I think Greg and Coach Prime are kind of similar. Good at creating buzz and getting their programs out of a ditch, but they’re not good enough as coaches to get to the next level. Both got lucky with Hunter and Rice who lifted their programs beyond what the coaching warranted.

Same could be said about Greg in 2020. The right hire then, but it’s run its course.

Ran its course 3 years ago but here we are and he’s still here. We’re close to - if the not THE worst power conference team and yet some people still want him to finish the year.

I don’t think it matters if he finishes the year or not. The season is toast. She probably won’t fire him until she has the money to fire him and it’s not like we have an obvious interim on the staff.

I think it makes more sense to try to clean the stench from this program sooner rather than later. We’re always way too late to fire someone when it’s been obvious for years…Ash, Jordan, Stringer, Schiano.

Firing now affords the opportunity to give an on-staff interim a 7 game tryout against beatable teams. So, not firing today means, or should indicate:
*no one on staff wants to be or is a credible interim, or *she hasn’t made up her mind yet and will let the season play out giving the grifter a chance to show a major turnaround, or *the $ modeling shows it’s too costly to fire him.

Other than making angry fans a little happier, there is minimal benefit to Rutgers if the best candidates are active coaches, particularly, if Rutgers has already decided that someone available now (e.g., Brian Kelly) is not going to be hired. Can't recall a recent situation where a new coach takes over mid season.

Described in detail why firing at end of season versus this week is "too late to fire someone."

Agreed. I don’t think you do that to someone has still done a lot to elevate our program. We can wait 7 weeks to make a decision. There’s nothing stopping her from having conversations with potential replacements.

But there is something stopping her.
And that's the problem.

If the decision is made and Zinn is "having conversations" about potential candidates what happens when those reports come out in 3 weeks?

Now it's a bigger distraction and fiasco.
Every single week after every single game.

"Coach Schiano - it was reported yesterday AD Zinn has been having conversations with potential HC candidates. Reportedly representatives for Jason Eck met with Zinn.
What do you have to say? Has anything been communicated to you about your future? How is the team handling these reports of a replacement?"

That leads every weekly and post game press conference.

Alternatively, if the decision has been made and Schiano is fired - there are no more distractions and nothing stopping Zinn from openly prompting and inquiring (silently through back alley channels) about potential candiates.

Hasn't Greg already been questioned along these lines?

Have you ever worked at a company where someone gets put on a performance to standard plan-basically telling them to shape up or ship out?

Greg is not naive. He knows how things play out.

Sure this is easier, but there are back channels that can be used.

So then why bother with the charade of keeping him around if he's already been fired?

Loyalty or respect?
It's arguably more disrespectful to trot him out there every week when everyone knows he's already been fired and Zinn is actively and openly recruiting his replacement.

The analogy of a Performance Improvement Plan doesnt work.

That assumes the employee could stay. So you aren't actively looking for their replacement.

Does Schiano still have a chance to stay?

My point is - if he is definitely out at end of year, pull the plug now.
Waiting makes no sense and provides zero benefit to anyone.
