FROM WHAT I AM HEARING: SHANE BEAMER EDITION

Everyone thought we'd be 4-1 right now going into the season. There were more than a few who thought we'd be 5-0 after we ran up the score on the cupcakes and Bama struggled early with UK.

I don't think Beamer is going anywhere unless he doesn't win another game this season. As ugly as the record is, the team has actually played much better this year than last. Donati has to see that.

I wasn't sure if we'd be 4-1, but I thought that's what we'd need to be to have a decent season. I posted pre-season asking how critical the MSU game was, as I'd started hearing rumblings about their QB. More than a few posters on here assured MSU was still a train wreck. Turns out they are pretty good. So is UK...at least better than last year. The schedule does lighten considerably once we get past UF and UT.

Someday maybe we can dream of not using schedule difficulty as an excuse.

But, yes, the sad thing is we are actually better this year. The offense, in particular. We lead the league (or are close to leading) in yards per game and rushing offense. Sacks allowed are WAY down. That's downright remarkable considering where we were not even a year ago.

This defensive collapse just came out of nowhere.

I don't use AI for anything. If athletics truly drove demand for the school and endowment, USC would have empty dorms and classroom buildings and the endowment would be 5 figures. WBB does not drive demand for a school.
Part of the endowment is restricted based on donor specifications and building interests. Then there's the unrestricted/quasi-endowment portion....

You can parse it all you want. The university isn't going to take endowment money to buy out a coach's salary or pay players, which is illegal under the current NIL rules.

It's a USC tradition, when one side of the ball is strong, the other side flounders.

However, the defense hasn't been as bad as it appears.

It had UK shut out until the offense fumbles and goes anemic.

It had MSU shut out until the offense fumbles and goes anemic.

It had stopped BAMA a coouple of times early until the offense blows two big drives and goes anemic.

You're not understanding the point. It's not a direct thing. The endowment can function somewhat like a large investment portfolio sitting behind the university's balance sheet that they push around however they see fit.

We'll have to just agree to disagree on this one.

The problem is Shane Beamer is not a good coach.
He's not, but I think he showed some growth last offseason in realizing he needed to hire good proven assistant coaches. I think he had an agenda that he was going to show he could win without using "name" coaches. It wasn't working well for him. Last year he went out and did what good head coaches do: hire good assistants.

The model is fully sustainable. USC has over a billion that they just sit on in endowment funding just like most of the other schools. They just have to pay players now to provide their fans/students a Saturday show. Drop in the bucket.
Just because there is an endowment doesn't mean it should be spent on DA football. Most endowments have legal and donor restrictions on what it can be spent on. Maybe education?

You can't be serious. The endowment isn't being spent on education I can assure you.

You need to take a few accounting and law classes before you start popping off about "creative accounting", "move things around on the balance sheet as you see fit" and "leverage the endowment".

Then you should know better. The endowment fund is nothing but a massive slush of overcharging students since inception and delegated donor funding. As stated before, a portion of it is easily accessible to move/wash funds however they so choose.

I'm not sure why this is even relevant though at this point though. The University isn't going to pony for a Beamer buyout right now. It would be a terrible waste of funds if they did.

Yeah. The BOT is in a bed of their own making, but it would be a terrible waste of money for a school with our financial limitations to pay what it would take to buy out Beamer and his staff.

You have tipped your hand. If you are really a CPA/MBA, you need to demand a refund from wherever you got the piece of paper that says you are a CPA/MBA.

No money in an endowment comes from students.

From a friend connected in the athletic department:

- As of right now there are zero plans to relieve Shane Beamer of his duties, and barring something unheard of will be back as our head coach in 2027.

- His buyout is $28 mil which can be upwards of $30-50 mil when all said and done also having to buy out assistant coaches and support staff.

- NIL / PORTAL: Afraid of having to run a massive roster retention war chest so half of the team doesn’t enter the portal overnight.

- Paranoia and bad taste in the BOT and AD from previous coaching hire blunders. They’re deathly afraid of another Will Muschamp or top candidates using us as leverage for a better contract where they currently are / spurring us. They are still haunted by his massive buy out and watching him walk away with millions while leaving the roster completely depleted.

- Also what they like is that Shane Beamer has a genuine culture and administrative alignment, something Muschamp never had. He is visibly proud to coach the gamecocks and not looking for an NFL or other job.

- So barring a complete locker room revolt or catastrophic collapse meaning the majority of the team hits the portal, the logic of the BOT and athletic department right now is “Why throw $30M+ at an unknown gamble when you can pour those exact resources into Beamer's roster, NIL infrastructure, and staff pool to fix the engine directly?”

Take this as what you will but I believe this with strong accuracy.

So if you’re in the “FIRE BEAMER” yesterday camp, it doesn’t look like it’s going to happen anytime soon.
Good perspective, and thanks for sharing.

No.

I reject this. - Beamer must be fired. - Reading between your lines, what you're explaining is that the BOT doesn't want to pony up the cash that those idiots set forth to begin with. OH, F'N WELL!!!! - Good..... maybe, just maybe being forced to rub their own faces in their own pile of crap that THEY CREATED... will make them shape up and get it together for once and make a good hire/s.

Sounds to me like they're happy making the fans suffer, as long as the blame doesn't come back to them. I'm sorry, the blame is 100% on them and they all should be removed from the BOT as being incompetent idiots. It's 3:52am, I haven't had a drop to drink, and I'm absolutely furious.

I want somebody's head and a** on a platter. (non-violently, of course) (sad I have to put that in there for context)
Wash, rinse, repeat.

For the love of God, it comes partially from excess yearly rev.

It remains self-evident that one individual runs at least 80-85% of the accounts on this board.

Or he had his hand held by an AD that already knew the OC and said, while wiping the baby food off Shanes chin, "Here's your OC, coming in on an airplane! Open up little Shane and hire him!"

If they bring Beamer back and I were one of those long-time donors whose seats were being relocated to make way for the new luxury boxes, I'd see this as a good opportunity to simply get out altogether.
If my seats were being relocated, I would get out regardless of who is coaching.

Do you honestly believe the university has excess revenue from tuition very often? The tuition paid by in state students doesn't even cover the cost of their attendance. The state provides funds to offset the shortfall in what the students pay and the actual cost of attendance.

This will show you how the endowment performed last year. Note the unrestricted expenditures on the last page.

It's the Quasi portion. There's a difference in how Endowments break down:

Arcane stat to some extent but this isn't a guy you bench -- especially when paired with the offensive stats in general.

Everybody was on white's wagon for the last couple of years... Now they're calling for his head too. It's more the players' imo. A couple of not-busted assignments and a couple of balls caught that hit people's hands and we are having a totally different thing to complain about. Everything fell on our side two years ago, and people were loving life. Now, everything fell against us and people want to go nuts again.... Like a bunch of emotional women.

It's extremely obvious. I recall Forkcock, Kidrobski, and other unique posters mentioning the same.

Unlike the non unique posters, like you? So at a minumum, you had a Roo account at the same time you had the coopie account on this board, while flooding the other board as ward Jr amongst who knows what other accounts?

No wonder you are fixated with pretending other posters do it. You sank a lot of effort into the deception.

Oh well, back to the ignore list.

How many players is Shane away from having a good roster? Seems OL & RBs are solid.
Thats the entire issue this roster is way better than the product on the field. If he is retained they have to axe the DC White and go make a splash hire in the offseason and bring in another good portal class.
