Council's attorneys said in court documents that Council was arrested and charged with first- and third-degree rape while he was in high school and went to a junior college because four-year schools wouldn't take him, The Topeka Capital-Journal reported. Council later was exonerated.

Bill Self. Not even once.

I'm going to have to rewatch the south carolina game and find the fan that made me think of you. Idk why but I just envisioned that's what you look like lol. They showed him several times throughout the game

Yeah Mitchell made the mistake of filing his court papers in Kentucky. The NCAA and Sankey will fight tooth and nail to make sure that UK doesn’t dominate college basketball like they once did.
Come on man. We have not won an NCAA since Sankey has been in the SEC. He doesn't care about who the team is that wins the tournaments. He just wants the winners to be SEC schools. We last dominated college basketball in the late 40s and 50s. Remember? Winning in 78, then 96 and 98 and then, 2012 isn't dominating. It says we are a top program and usually a contender but not, domineering. We can only hope and wish with where we are now.

LMFAO the BEST program of the 90s, even while starting the decade off with TWO years of probation! Your post is inaccurate at best.

That article does nothing to explain why he was given a 7th year. It flies in the face of any eligibility standard; even though eligibility standards are in flux right now there's really no one loophole that would explain allowing a 7th year.
From being genuinely curious I looked into it a little bit. The new NCAA rule that doesn't count years played at JUCO against eligibility appear to be what is allowing him to be eligible. He played 2 years at the JUCO Monroe College, and 3 years in NCAA D1 (Wagner, St. Bon, and Kansas).

A New York State court issued an injunction allowing him to play. The NCAA has yet to rule, but the injunction does protect him (and Kansas) from any penalties for playing him if he is later deemed ineligible.

So basically the argument is the 2 years at JUCO do not count and he only played 3 years in NCAA.

UK allowed Calipari to stay around 5 years too long and hired Mark Pope as its coach. UK already ensuring we dont "dominate college basketball" for a while now.

It's going to be a year of constant this week so and so is eligible next he won't be. The NCAA would have been better off saying all 2022 graduates are eligible. Follow your conference rules on transfers. Good luck!

Duke has a claim to best n the 90s too. They won 2 titles as well and went to more final fours. They had 5 title game appearances to our 3 as well.

But the 90s was definitely a decade of dominance by UK. So I agree with u there.

Meh. UK was better overall. Outside of the probation years, we didn’t have very mediocre teams like duke did in 1995, 1996 and 1997. For reference, duke had a losing record in 1995 at 13-18 and then an 18-13 record in 1996 and yet, still made the tournament somehow lmfao

I agree. Mitch was an idiot and terrible at his job. But do you really think UK should’ve canned Cal around 2020? Up until the Covid season he was still a pretty good coach.

But yes, the Pope hire was idiotic and I said so at the time.

Maybe more so Cal should have left n 2019. I agree they couldnt fire him then but the dumb contract happened then I believe. Otherwise coulda moved on after the 9 and 16 disaster perhaps.

Just ridiculous that each state has different rules. We didn’t get Mitchell and Afari ineligible. But, in another state could be a different outcome.

I mean Franck is in his 7th year too, right?
My question is , how does Council enroll in classes this late?

If it helps any, Mitchell is also now ineligible, whole thing is a cluster f***
On a positive note, we don’t have to pay Mitchell $4+ million to sit on the bench ineligible since that’s exactly what would’ve happened had he decided to stick it out here.
