Sorry I forgot, Stanford is universally known to be annually a top 10 program. Stanford and Rutgers. I guess as long as those 2 are scheduled all is good.

Look, you can harp whatever you want to defend the schedule. I want to see us typically pick at least one match every year that is a really good dual meet. If it is Oklahoma State, then buck up and wrestle Taylor's team. If we can't get past the personal thing then pick a close second, which would be Tech or Nebraska.
I have had dozens of people from all over see me wearing a PSU wrestling shirt and hat and just start talking to me about wrestling. Every person I have talked wrestling with this past year has a singular question in common, when do you think Penn State is going to wrestle OkieSt.
So you’ve officially stopped pretending it’s about Iowa state, Cornell, and nc state lol

That was a waste of time

You think they are ducking Va Tech and Nebraska? My guess is Va tech will be a home and home soon, and who knows if they reached out to Nebraska or not. It takes two to tango though and not every team wants to wrestle the best in history of sports

Regarding people asking about Okie State who cares, but it does indeed look like you are responding to DT’s chirping. The answer is when our HOF best ever coach is good and ready and deems it necessary. Everyone is free to beat us in March.

The cut to the chase is no matter who we schedule you are good with it. I think not finding a place to wrestle 1 elite team is silly as hell.

I have been perfectly OK with scheduling Buffalo, Villanova and Temple for OOC football, because we haven't been good enough to play somebody better in several decades. That isn't the case in wrestling.
Again, be specific and state that you think we should wrestle one of Okie state, Va tech, and Nebraska. Because there’s literally no one else that can hope to win more than two matches.

Personally I’d like to beat Okie State this year but I’m not going to shake my fist if we don’t.

btw your football comment was ridiculous, psu was in semi finals just a few years ago

I've supported Edinboro, Pitt, and WVU at times as I have ties to all 3. It used to pain me to send money to Pitt but since my buddy's son is on the roster I do it. The ACC also has some legit wrestlers nowadays and I enjoy watching good wrestling!

Not a word bro, it’s a phrase and it was used correctly. And I think one of those times I used it twice because this site is sometimes hard to post on your mobile…

Anyway he was dancing around pretending like it was about Iowa state, Cornell, and nc state.

Eventually it got to what it’s really about, Penn State not wrestling Oklahoma State. He didn’t know what to tell people when he was wearing his PSU hat and shirt, So we cut to the chase and can the real conversation.

If OK State wants to wrestle a real schedule, they should join a real conference.

That weak OOC schedule pays a lot of bills for the overall Penn State athletic department, including the wrestling team.

For an average game, I believe Penn State generates about $5.5 million per game in ticket sales, and $1.1 million in parking and concessions.

Come on dude. Quit being obstinate. I would prefer Okie State, if not them VATech or Nebraska. Yep, that is who I would prefer this year.
ISU was a great match up a few years ago, as was the Cornell match. NCST would generally be a nice match up just about any year. Minnesota would be a nice OOC match up in the years they aren't on the Big10 schedule.

A match OR two every year from a set made up of OkieSt, Cornell, ISU, VaTech, NCST or a quality Big10 team not scheduled would be really nice.

I don't get anything watching PSU pulverize Buffalo, Duke, Bloomsburg or whoever.

You can twist it anyway you want, but you are wrong. One high quality, non big10 matchup a year would be really nice.

I get it though. Stick to your guns, no matter what. It is what you believe so be it. You think I am ridiculous and I believe you are full of baloney. Neither is changing the other's beliefs.

I don't like the schedule, I don't like that we won't wrestle OkieSt or VaTech or NCST.

Then don't watch the matches. Cael does want he thinks is best for the team and it works.

Not sure why that was directed to me. First, our program needs to play that type of OOC schedule. We haven't been good enough to play an Alabama, UT (either one), Oklahoma or many others for quite a while and I wasn't complaining about our football schedule. Second, the OOC schedule whether we play this year's Franklin designed cupcakes are Us schedule or if we went nuts the other way and scheduled Notre Dame, Alabama and Texas Tech as our typical OOC we would make just as much money.

lol stop acting as if adding Cornell, Iowa State, and NCST would be such a better schedule but OK/Lehigh/WVU is garbage

projected totals Cornell/isu/ncst is 102-3

projected totals for ok/lehigh/WVU is 106-6

what’s the difference lmao

But as previously stated we would probably have one of ISU, ncst, or maybe North Carolina on schedule for 12/20 if not for the National Duals the prior week

PSU has no peers, that’s the main “problem”

No dude. ISU (once), NCST or Koll's UNC are not ever on the schedule, so the likelihood they would be on the schedule this year is "not very".

Now your argument is slipping into the WVU logic level, "don't watch".

Again, I am not bytching about Lehigh being on the schedule. I fall in the Ira camp that mandates Lehigh's presence on the schedule.

May we quote you when posters inevitably start calling for hitting the portal to replace a wrestler with a lower than team average bonus rate or scores less than 15 team points at nationals?

So to “cut to the chase” you think switching out WVU (who is relatively close and we are projected to beat 35-3) and putting in Iowa State (proj 30-3) would make our schedule demonstrably better?

It sure doesn’t seem like something to get angry about

no one has cared about OOC schedule for years, but now since a few teams became players five minutes ago we have to wrestle them immediately? Note we had a promise to go to OK, and we might have had agreements with others as well.

Cornell, NC St, or Virginia Tech are all great candidates for an entertaining dual. I have to admit, as much as I enjoy 8-10 shutouts on paper for the record books, the quality of those matches are pretty poor. A decision match is a rarity with many of these programs.

I have no desire to see or build the prestige of Oky State or aid in building their program in any way, but 1-2 "break a sweat" non conference duals in November/December is good for the fans as well as the kids, especially with Nebraska off cycle this year.

One can hope.

This is incorrect. Franklin's cupcakes gave us paydays with no return visits required. Higher quality teams want a home and home at a minimum. Cupcakes mean more money even with a less than full stadium. It sucks, but that is the reality of it.

Wrestlestat has us beating Cornell 37-0 and NC State 35-0. If shutouts ain’t your thang you’re happy they’re not on schedule

Please explain. We pay the Buffalos, Villanovas, and Temples to come and let's us beat them up and rake in a game's worth of tickets, parking and concessions. We may play Temple at home 4 out of 5 and don't bother returning the visits to 'Nova or Buffalo.

If we were dumb enough to schedule only 'Bamas, Notre Dames and Texas Techs we wouldn't get the xtra game every year.

So, since i have an understanding of the economics of the OOC - money wise and to meet Franklin's demand of an easy preseason posting your post directed towards me just seems rather nonsensical. It had nothing to do with the back and forth.

Only thing I have any anger about is your lack of ability to follow along. I threw out we aren't changing each other's minds and was trying to let it go. You need to keep it going. I am done responding to you anymore. You are wrong and constantly move the goal posts to stay ahead. I want to see PSU wrestle a team or two that we normally don't see and that a few kids that will challenge the PSU kids. It would also be nice if those teams actually put their starters on the mat.

Cool looks like I’m getting the last word in and thus getting my hand raised, pun intended.

However, you did say your anger has been brewing for several years now over the schedule and I’ve only graced the board with my presence for a few months so it couldn’t have been me. Anyhow Stanford met your criteria last year but you give them no respect since they aren’t a traditional power.
