That’s not an excuse. That’s reality. Noah may outright suck but measuring him by what he does when he’s hurt is lame and needy.
he's hurt, he's played out of position, he's not in shape, he's young, he isnt being used right.......always something other than the obvious.

This team will score. Probably average in the 85 ppg range.

How many will they give up is the question.

There is no question they won’t be a good rebounding team. The defense will be bad. Just how bad no one knows yet.
They will be fine. Long and quick. Length and size at c. Maturity and strength at the wings.
I like the makeup of this team. Depth and iq. Chemistry appears to be great. All of them can shoot. Diallo a strong frame vocal leader at point.
Let’s hope to get Morton back for defensive guard skills. KW3 will add a bunch.
I expect several of them will contend for All SEC honors.
Wildcard for me is N’Diaye. 7 foot athlete. Fast jumps and a much better shooter than I thought. He could really turn this team into a contender. McBride is a player. Strong and he can get up. All around skills.
This team is really tall and long.

Didn’t realize he’s 6’6”. Smooth. Good ball handler. I like having 2 ball handling guards like he and Diallo on the floor.
Been saying for awhile now, don't underestimate him. He could end up being the best player on this team. He's a tall guard with impressive skills, late bloomer going into a sophomore leap. I too like the multi ball handler backcourt especially when you have Milan at the 3. It can lead to a lot of penetrate and kicks and the perfect setup for Milan. I think this team could be very good offensively.

You get the big 4 going and the PF spot plays it's role well, it's a team with strong upside.

Pretty much anyone who shoots a lot of threes is going to have the majority of them be catch and shoot. Momcilovic has clearly shown the ability to move and create shots while making them at a high rate however. Just calling him a catch and shoot guy is inaccurate.
That is what he primarily does. He’s certainly not a creator or facilitator.

At any level of ball noah wasnt uk ready

if he wasn't from here we wouldn't have looked at him
Well when we had a coach that could recruit he didn't get a look. Noah caught maybe the biggest break in life with the Pope hire. I wonder how much money he made just from Mitch hiring Pope. I'm not mad at Noah tho. Heck I think he can help any team.

It's his junior year. This is the year he is supposed to be able to provide a little production. Should have more confidence being a upper classmen now and added strength.

How was he the last 21 when the defenses were actual defenses…and not Tennessee Tech? Hes an absolute one trick pony that sucked at his one trick when it mattered. I want him to succeed, but it won’t cloud my thinking. He needs to be better.
He wasn’t good on the last 21 for sure. I think it had more to do with the sporadic play than the defenses. I think he got caught between rushing his shot when he got out there and trying to let the game come to him.

I don’t think he’ll be a big contributor this year but I do think the kid can shoot but you’re right, if he does happen to get 10 minutes per game this year and shoots 30% then it is what is.

He didn't have to rush anything. The shots he was getting were literally H-O-R-S-E shots and he was still missing them. He's honestly just not been good enough to play at the SEC level. He's had one good game in two years at this level. If he had the right coaching to develop his play, I fully believe he could be good enough to be a contributor. I don't believe he has that.

This. Noah’s career shooting percentages stink, 33% on threes and only 39% from the field overall. And that ain’t for lack of opportunity, he’s had two full seasons and plenty of open looks in which he could’ve proven himself.

So why people here keep talking like he’s a deadeye shooter is beyond me.
In Noah’s defense, he’s really a middling D2 player, that was brought in by Pope, for the same reason Pelphrey was brought in by Pope…

As a virtue signaling PR stunt to placate the old guard of BBN.

Imo the real reason is because the teams hes been on cant let him be who he needs to be.

He really needs to be a spot up shooter. The lack of talent around him causes zero defense collapse and kick. So he never gets an open look.

He's only ever going to be a niche player but he isn't even allowed to do that.

Please. Noah’s issue is not the lack of talent “around” him, instead it’s the lack of talent “in” him. And contrary to your claim, he has gotten plenty of open looks, he just hasn’t knocked them down. At least not against legit competition, he DID shoot well against the cupcakes at the beginning of last season, but then couldn’t hit anything when we started playing higher level defenses in SEC play.

I must say, I think I’ve figured out your bias from watching your posts in recent months. You’re the “always side with the in-stater” guy. I recall on the football threads you were the guy claiming Boley was more talented than Minchey (and now the ONLY one still critical of Minchey), and now you’re the guy trying to pin Noah’s struggles on his teammates.

Side with the in state guy? There is a thread right now on this board where I said we dont need seneca driver because we will be fine at te regardless.

Also i clearly said noah is a niche player. That isn't exactly a positive thing.

You quickly contradicted yourself here. You say Noah's problems are not related to having a lack creators to play with and he had plenty of open looks. You then go on to say he shot well against cupcakes (because he had open looks) but struggled when the defenses got better meaning he was no longer getting those same open looks which is largely due to a lack of creators.

My lord man…Go look at the shots he took last year. He wasn’t taken guarded 3s.

That’s a fair observation. And, to be honest, that thought did pass through my head when I reread my post right right after it posted. I see you caught it too.

But the gist of it is still true. He’s had plenty of open looks in his career. And his shooting did get progressively worse as the competition improved …and, yes, likely because of better defense equaling fewer looks. But just because he got “fewer” open looks against SEC competition does not mean he didn’t get any.

Oh trust me hes gonna catch it. Hes a literal type of guy. No room for human error with him. Im trying to find out where his church is so I can get naked and bow down to him while he preaches Paul's word.

Thankfully I don't recall him playing much at all after the first part of year when he was somehow starting. I don't recall him making many shots at all, but I don't remember him seeing many open looks.

Again, I said he is a niche player. You don't start a niche player. The talent gap is too much and our pg issues led to him having to do too much. He really needs to be a break glass in case of emergency type guy this season.

Going back to Wilkens. I think he and Zoom will be UK's best starting backcourt since 2019 with Hagans and Maxey. Two taller guards that can score in a variety of ways and length defensively to cause issues defensively.
