Everything is still on the table for this team.
Not sure which "actual top teams" you are referring to. If you mean Miami, Georgia and Notre Dame, you should take a look at the comparative SOS's. Not exactly fair comparing the flaws of teams with SOS in 60s-70s with Ohio St (teens), and OSU has played two teams better than anyone any of those teams have played to date. The only team that can truly claim superiority to Ohio St is Texas, and again, that comeback was inexplicable.I actually don't think Ohio State is the best team in the country despite all the glazing for Jeremiah Smith.
They have their flaws relative to the other actual top teams in the country.
I would probably have them 3rd right now.
Do you mean OSU??? I jest. Yes the hawks need to get that run avg to at least 4 ypc from the running backsEverything is still on the table for this team.
Well the OSU offense wasnt totally dead or bad in the 4th qtr/2nd half against Texas. It wasnt great but after texas closed to 23-17, OSU drove it 48 yards on 7 plays but missed a 40+ yard FG try, which is one of their issues the last few years, the badly timed missed FG, and they had a miss yesterday against Iowa. Drew Stevens missed a few but Drew and the many really good FG kickers Kirk has had have been big time money most of the time.I now that Jeremiah Smith had a great game and gets all the attention, and deservedly so, but Julian Sayin might have put on the best QB performance I've seen from an opponent at Kinnick, and I've seen multiple Heisman winners. Just about every one of his passes was dead accurate, and some of them were made under heavy pressure. I had thought he was overrated, but he changed my mind. How that offense went dead in the 4th quarter against Texas is quite a mystery. I doubt they lose another game.
Sayin is about a 75% completion QB in his career, he was like that his freshman year, just great form.I now that Jeremiah Smith had a great game and gets all the attention, and deservedly so, but Julian Sayin might have put on the best QB performance I've seen from an opponent at Kinnick, and I've seen multiple Heisman winners. Which teams do you have ahead of them, Texas and who else? I agree that in a big matchup a really good running team can give OSU problems and if they can really pressure the OSU QB then OSU could get beatI actually don't think Ohio State is the best team in the country despite all the glazing for Jeremiah Smith.

Ole Miss got stomped, Florida got stomped, ND is not winning huge or NCarolina got a lot better, Georgia maybe is really strong, Miami and Bama are pretty toughI actually don't think Ohio State is the best team in the country despite all the glazing for Jeremiah Smith.

Right now, I like Georgia and Miami ahead of Ohio State. Texas deserves to be ahead of them because of results, but I think OSU is the better team. Alabama also, unfortunately, needs to be a team to watch with the way their QB is playing.Which teams do you have ahead of them, Texas and who else? You have the same observations of OSU as I do as far as teams beating them. They look to be weak against the run by a strong running team and if you pressure Sayin and disrupt their passing then they get beat like last year against IU and Miami.Right now, I like Georgia and Miami ahead of Ohio State. Not only can they be run on, but I don't think their own running game is quite there yet, when you're talking about what the best defenses will be able to take away.
The top teams will be able to get pressure on Sayin and if you can limit their rushing offense, teams like Miami and Georgia have more than enough firepower themselves offensively to contend with and beat them.
I'm not a B10 homer, either, so as long as it isn't Bama, nothing would make me happier than watching Ohio State lose in the playoffs once again.
We need to remember Ohio State is bad for college sports, let alone CFB. Glazing them and letting them be the leading representative for the B10 does nothing but help to serve their own interests.
They really do need to go away for a while ala Nebraska or Florida State, for the good of everyone.
I promise you all the sport will be just fine without Ohio State being able to buy all the best players and always being at the top of the conference and contending for national championships.
We have seen so many Iowa teams hit their stride in mid to late October. The OL and running game will very likely be clicking and the defense will be even better. Settled on a QB too.Do you mean OSU??? I jest. Yes the hawks need to get that run avg to at least 4 ypc from the running backs
Everyone discounting Indiana because of the close game at NW? Indiana looks pretty sharp and I think NW is way better than most think at this point.Ole Miss got stomped, Florida got stomped, ND is not winning huge or NCarolina got a lot better, Georgia maybe is really strong, Miami and Bama are pretty tough
Agreed. Chiles is the real deal and NW is looking like the old NW in Pat's good years there. New stadium, energized fan base. As much as they can be anyway. If we beat UW , I’d have NU as the most likely second loss. Nebraska and Wisconsin are at home.
A league cap sounds good in theory, but me thinks the Michigans and OSUs of the world would find ‘creative’ ways to ‘take care’ of their players…You have the same observations of OSU as I do as far as teams beating them. They look to be weak against the run by a strong running team and if you pressure Sayin and disrupt their passing then they get beat like last year against IU and Miami.
I am a Big 10 Homer and want Iowa to be playing in the best league if not tied for the best league. I do think the money and "buying" of players needs to be even-steven. Let every team have a max/same amount of money to make that playing field even and each team can spend the same amount as they want to on whatever players.
I also think some of the huge NIL deals need to be looked at because sugar daddy stuff
