been one of our worst ADs in history? When he was hired I really thought it was the correct choice. Coming off 2 national titles in baseball I thought he understood the mentality it took in coaching circles to produce consistent winners. But, his choices as head coaches has been up there like picking what is the best best dog turd I can find. Maybe he gets credit for keeping Dawn Staley. I am 58 years old, I have been a Gamecock fan since elementary school and I have 2 BS degrees from USC Columbia. I believe USC spends just as much money for athletics as Clemson, UGA or any other SEC school, but for the life of me I can not figure out why 80-90% of our football teams can not find their jock strap.

And the fact the administration allowed him to keep his role for 13 years (second longest tenured AD at Carolina)-insanity. Yes, we got rich when Tanner was AD but that was because of big SEC payouts. The BOT only cares about their personal wealth-not success in sports. Ray's hires would have gotten him fired at a bigger program. We on the other hand just let him decimate the men's major sports programs until he was ready to retire.

Tanner will be a whole chapter in some textbook about hiring and firing Athletic Directors. I really blame the University President for keeping him around and the BOT for rubber stamping his dumbass ideas.

Anyone that pays attention to me knows that I’ve told yall the BOT and the way they are appointed is the problem. Anyone agree or at least know what I’m talking about?

Finished 15th out of 16 in all 3 major men’s sports last year. Headed that way again in Football & Basketball. At least we have hope with Schnall in the Post-Tanner era. Tanner cost the university so much money, they should seriously remove his name from the baseball field. He should serve time for the amount of money he blew.

Ray makes King Dixon look like the Nick Saban of AD's.

King did hire Sparky and Newton-both terrible hires-but it was my understanding his job as AD was never meant to be a long term role and he was practically begged to accept the position before we were able to hire an established name (McGee). Unlike Tanner, who was never going to quit until he was comfortably ready for retirement.

I was NEVER in favor of Tanner as AD. The job is way to specialized these days to hire an old coach. Some high schools are figuring this out as well. It’s a different skill set.
