I’m not going to defend his coaching, his game prep, his time management … any of that. His salary, etc.

It takes a certain kind of individual to stand up there after you’ve been beaten sideways to say: this is on me. Knowing full well your *** is on the line.

don’t misinterpret what I’m saying. I’m not pulling a RutgersAl and suggesting he needs three more years because I don’t think he needs three more games, but what I am saying is that this is the man’s identity and he does care about Rutgers and this can’t be easy on him. Just relating the human aspect of this.

GS is a good guy and actually does coach some things very well (as even Belichick realized). He's just so stubborn and thick about things on offense. Every year the same problems and the same dull offense (weak red zone, aim for saftey more than scoring "analytics say we cant return punts."). In Greg;s mind its wise to play with one arm behind your back. Fortune favors the bold and not the safe.

This kind of stuff tempts me to faceplant

yes all that is true and always been a flaw with Greg. But his calling card was defense. And for the last two seasons we have the worst defense amongst FBS teams.

To make matters worse (and impossible to recover from) , it appears literally zero coaches who are worth having want to work for him.

He can’t make the defense respectable.
he can’t hire anyone that would or could.

so it’s the most obvious “coach needs to be fired” situation of all time.

Other than the lack of recruiting in his own dam home state, this is probably the most important reason to fire him. Reputation must be 💩 if no one wants to work for this 35+ year coach who has been head coach for 20 years.

Bad enough most high school coaches in his home state want to be bothered with him.

How many NFL coaches, let alone colleges, would survive after going 32-45 first 77 games?

The answer is 0.
Most of them are gone before game #77.

Mike Locksley 39-51 0.433 9th yr
Greg Schiano 32-45 0.416 7th yr

The only two games that are "potentially" winnable are Maryland & Michigan State and RU will probably be underdogs in both games.

I wonder if he will be talking about improvement and championships at Rutgers when he's either 1-10 or 2-9 going into the finale 🤣

“Are we going to make the College Football Playoff this year?, No.” in this context is one of the wildest press conference quotes of all time for him and that’s saying something

He’s obviously lost. His only answers are the ones that have led him to all of this losing. And he’s not equipped or capable of truly pivoting. It’s just not in him.
