What now? I have a few possible changes. Humor me.

--Play Manske now. Becht is done - too many issues that aren't going to be corrected. Staff has to find out if he is capable of playing in the B1G
--Consider moving Brahmer outside replacing Eskildsen @ WR. Eskildsen benched and maybe can find a place on Special Teams
--Rulli to starting Center? More B1G experience play than Riker
--Try to establish the RBs on the outside with some swing passes
--Quit the continuous zone defense. The CBs are good enough to play more man coverage
--Try combo of Blanding & Nondim (sp?) to start at DT. Both are a lighter & quicker. Can't be much worse.

--Any ideas on DE fix with the available players?

He had open heart surgery in the middle of March. Think about that, and our offensive (and I mean that) line.

I agree w/ a change at QB, but I'd play Barry instead. How can the season get worse? Have a QB die on the field.

Yes, you are right, his health is more important than football. So give Barry an opportunity.

I certainly understand why any fan would expect wholesale changes. Let me just explain that the players and scheme choices are slow to change in season, especially before an open date. Practice time is brief and regimented during a normal game prep week. Players have earned their spots after evaluation during winter workouts, spring practice, fall camp and 3 non conference games. Putting someone into a key position because they "can't do any worse" is not a chapter in the coaching handbook
Think of a team it's personnel and coaches as a marriage of sorts. Before you choose another partner, it behooves you to try to salvage the relationship and perhaps through identifying the behaviors that result in conflict, a satisfactory relationship can be saved.
Losing erodes team/ coach chemistry as player's tend to become more concerned with their individual futures and controlling an already difficult environment with over 100 egos is near impossible.
So I can tell you decisions aren't made in a vacuum and all consequences must be considered.
Including players with eligibility opting out in season and leaving the staff with diminished options. Coaching in this era is a nightmare.

Understand your perspective and appreciate your reply. I really don't see them as drastic changes. Sometimes a little change is needed to reignite purpose.

Stop trying to run. Just pass - every down. Also, shocked at how poor Campbell’s decision making and play calling has been; near identical to Franklin. I’ll add - pray someone ponies up some cash for the portal. And start thinking about next year. Three more wins tops this year.

While I see your point, he has been medically cleared to play. Otherwise he would not have been in uniform.

Replacing your QB is drastic. Before you do so, you must be 100% sure you are completely done with him. Campbell has a great deal invested in his decision to bring in Becht. In addition, we have no reliable information to determine if Manske can be reasonably considered an upgrade at this stage of his development.
If the staff reaches the conclusion that the change could bring improvement it would likely occur after an open date.

Put Ebel on the bench. Bacon stinks at end. Maybe move him back to linebacker.

Its drastic and dramatic. And if you do nothing you've lost the team and the fans. I don't say that he has to be pulled completely, but he needs to sit a series or two in order to get the point across, since the message is not getting through. I watched a lot of football Saturday and no one on much less talented teams had as much trouble finding open receivers as the guy who has the most starts of anyone in D1. Something is off with Becht - whether its on the field or off, but he cant remain the starter if we see the same crap next week.

My post was simply an attempt to demonstrate that coaches and fans are wired differently. It starts with who has the most invested and who suffers the consequences of the wrong decision. The fan goes back to his family and his real occupation. The coach, not so much. As for losing the team, the coach has a better feel for that pulse than we do. As for losing the fans, he cares little. He has a guaranteed contract for 70.5 million dollars, In other words, he never needs to work another day in his life.
Are we pulling him a series or two in order to make what point? If the results are do to a lack of effort? I don't think it makes jackshit otherwise.
Campbell has coached this guy for 5 years. He made the decision to bring him here. After 2 bad games you ditch him? The message to the team could backfire. The team hits bad times and you turn on your offensive leader who gave you 5 years. With all the Campbell worship here since he arrived, we are only giving him 2 games before we know what's best for the team. He needs our help?
Barring an injury, which he could be playing with, I think if a change is coming it will likely be after the open date. At that point you are punting on this season totally and as such, seniors will be relegated to
use as needed. At that point those who have draft stock will make decisions and the faithful here who hailed Campbell as the savior will scatter.
If the last 6 quarters are really the lack of talent brought from ISU, it demonstrates a serious miscalculation by the coaching staff. After all, Menske was one of those imports. PSU doesn't have the money to sign a premier QB in the portal. Good times.

I watched quite a few other QBs on Sat as well. Agree that so many other QBs, experienced and inexperience, are able to hit their receivers in stride. Sit Becht for a series or two. Maybe it will enlighten him in one way or another.

Coaches have decided on one change I expected: Center position. I thought the replacement would be Rulli but it is Ikakoula.
I also think Brahmer, who is TE blocking liability should be tried at WR replacing Ekildsen. Not saying Brahmer is a Charlie Becker (IU) clone but he'd present a matchup problem for CBs.
