I noticed he put on a bit of weight. I kept thinking I was watching a morph between the old Fitz and Brett Bielema.
their offense and defense feels really familiar.
Defense looks very stout as expected, Kenny Soares made an athletic INT. Offense is workmanlike, also probably as expected, but is executing consistently with the short passing game.
Fitz looking more like a DL than an LB. East Lansing must have some decent deep dish establishments!
MSU just gave up a long td pass to make it 13-7, MSU qb just got sacked for a big loss. Not very impressed by the Spartans so far.
Sparty is undermanned for a B1G team from a talent perspective. Thought they showed some enthusiasm, but keep shooting themselves in the foot in the red zone,Fitz looking more like a DL than an LB. East Lansing must have some decent deep dish establishments!

Sparty defense playing well but you can tell they would have issues against better teams. Offense has issues in the red zone. Defense front doing well but questions at linebacker and secondary. Currently, MSU scored 5 times, but settled for four field goals. Toledo scored only twice but only 5 points behind.
Had the exact same thought, not that I should throw stones.
Start of the 4th qtr and at first glance it looks like East Lansing is getting 2021-2022 Fitz...
What do people expect? Sparty was gutted and lacks top end talent. They aren’t going to have a winning record. I’ll wait until NU actually beats Fitz to celebrate. We certainly have more talent. Until then I guess we’ll get the weekly critique of what goes wrong for the Green.
Toledo played MSU tough. Too many FGs instead of TDs for MSU almost lost them the game - that was a familiar sight.
The announcers were prepared with NU trivia though, calling out Darnell Autry’s theater major and Charlton Heston.

Kenny Soares was an excellent player for us. I met his entire family, including Kenny, at the Las Vegas Bowl, and Kenny was the defensive star of the game. Ultimately he transferred because he was not used properly on defense. Wish we still had him.

I am a secondary MSU fan since I went to grad school there, my wife received both of her degrees there, and most of our families have gone there.
I was putting my kids to bed right as the game started, so I was watching on delay. As a result, I ended up avoiding this thread while the game was on, in order to avoid spoilers.
It is no secret that MSU needs a lot of work. However, they did have fight to them, and they got the best outcome for what they need. They got the win, but they also got more information on what they need to improve upon. I would love to see them get at least six wins for a bowl, but I think a more realistic outlook for this season is four, or possibly five if things break right. What is most important is the fight of the team, and the improvement over the season.
I’m glad we have Chip Kelly as OC, not Brian Kelly.
It's a solid win for Fitz in his debut. Toledo is a good MAC team coming off a bowl game, and they brought it against MSU. MSU showed some composure to respond after Toledo took the lead. If Toledo were playing NU, I'd be happy with a 10-point win.

2-score game at the half, so Sparty's not out of it, but Wisky has certainly looked better.
Classic Fitz team: decent defense, crapola offense.
It doesn't help that they lost Cam Edwards for the year after being injured in last week's game. They had issues before, but losing the main dude without a good backup really hurts. They do not have depth at many positions.
Now three score. MSU offense sucks, I’ve had it on INT multi screen all game and they haven’t looked remotely competitive. Wisconsin is, like, okay to decent.
Now 31-3 with four minutes left and Fitz just punted the ball back. MSU doesn’t have turnovers either, just purely getting their *** kicked.
Several turnovers on downs. They got stopped multiple times around midfield and probably should've punted more, but it's hard to recommend punting in those situations when you're playing from behind. Wisconsin made them pay for some short fields.
They're definitely missing some pieces on offense.
We should be fine against the Spartans!!!! Fitz doesn't have much to work with. We upgraded our HC position for sure as well.
I think we really upgraded our offensive Coaches for sure.
Don’t they have the QB that beat out Aidan Chiles? That guy must be the next coming of Andrew Luck.
I don’t think it’s the jimmys and the joes that will be why we win.
In this case, our Jimmy and Joe’s are better too.
We seem to be the better team all around, That includes the coaching staff. MSU got smoked by Whisky. I am not sure Fitz has enough to work with from what they have shown us thus far. Of course that could change, but not so sure. If we stay healthy for that game, we should win. Staying healthy is the big key this season.
You could also argue getting healthy is a big key......so many starters already out.
