"If I f&ck up Penn State, my career is over"
Pat Kraft, 2025.

Remember, there is always a glimmer of light, on even the darkest night.

Yeah, this is pretty easy and straightforward - CJF's teams were always competitive with the top of the Conference. Even when they recorded losses, they were almost always competitive, close games even against the best teams on their schedule (typically top-5 opponents). This team didn't even look competitive against a middle-of-the-pack b1g team - utterly blown out by mid-tier team. And don't give me this crap about Campbell needing time - Campbell's roster and hand-picked Free Agents is being paid as much or more than any Franklin team. Kraft is a freaking moron - he's managed to "pay up" across the board for downgrades everywhere. Just utterly absurd.

I make a motion we put a pin in the Michelin Man, and watch him zoom away.
He's a dead man walking. Moving into the future this coaching search and the "New Beaver Stadium" will be referenced as "Kraft's Folly."
Someone must pay for the financial disaster that will hit PSU athletics. Imagine having ownership of a Hotel/motel/restaurant in State College this morning?

"If I f&ck up Penn State, my career is over"
Pat Kraft, 2025.

Remember, there is always a glimmer of light, on even the darkest night.

The only possible silver lining is the BoT being reformed, reduced in size, and their idiotic agenda ended.
I just wrote a manifesto on our entire situation. Seriously 14 paragraphs.

After reading it aloud to myself I realized that this whole thing has driven me to the point of visiting the psychologist office. But even knowing that I would still nuke everything from the BOT down and start over. I have for a very long time viewed that admin at PS as being inbreed and corrupt.

Then there is the alumni situation which has been relegated to peasant status and forced to live in the land of the nerds to the point of nerdism, it has become a cancer. All we get from them are nerdy suggestions and nerdy candidates.

I'm trying to figure out a way to dig up JoePa and clone him then somehow infuse that into the university.

And yet..... almost universally, people who know football, not just the talking heads, praised the hiring of Campbell. So where is the disconnect? Were they universally wrong? People came blame Kraft all they want, and he certainly deserves his share, but he doesn't coach the team. MC was given a pile of money, got to bring over all his best players and coaches, got a schedule avoiding the top three teams in the conference, and got an incredible honeymoon period that is now crushingly over. Something doesn't add up. I don't know what that is, and apparently neither does he.

I didn't see any universal approval- lots of people saw the whole thing as a clusterfuk

IMO and that's all I have going on here we have reached a point where there were two possible outcomes. Unfortunately, the worst one is now being played out before our eyes.

Does anyone think Franklin wanted fired. I mean that meant he kept his money until he was hired by another team.

Then Kraft couldn't find anyone that wanted to work for him.

Then finally he goes with an offer to Campbell, and Matt has no idea what he signed up for. Sometimes, you have to know how to pick a boss. How long did Franklin work for Kraft? Just wondering.

I totally agree with this. And yet people say he’s mediocre.

I think Franklin was a great recruiter, an average game coach, and a poor coach when he had equal to less talent. That being said, Kraft not supporting him made him worse because he was a paranoid coach. Kraft playing tough guy made him worse. He needed to go, but not as much as his boss.

Kraft getting fired does not improve psu any more than Franklin getting fired
I must have missed the sarcasm emoji.

Kraft had two jobs before coming to PSU:

Temple - which was at a peak in the two big sports (Men's BB and Football)
Helped largely by horrendous/disaster Kraft hires in both sports, when Kraft left, they were a **** show.

Boston College - which wasn't at what anyone would describe as a "peak", nevertheless managed to descend into **** showness under Kraft - in both of the major sports.
That was also the time of the initiation of "NIL". Under Kraft, that was also a **** show at BC (which remains the lowest netting NIL program in major conference college athletics)

Since coming to PSU:
When he came in both major programs were at relative high levels (Football under Franklin, and BB under Shrewsberry - who was in the midst of taking PSU BASKETBALL to the second round of the NCAAs)

Kraft - who brought with him his "inner circle" of "not good" from Boston College - has since **** showed both of them - thanks in significant part to horrendous handling of coaching changes/hires.
Along with the clown show that PSU NIL management has become (do we even know who is in charge right now?).

This, along with:
-fiscal mismanagement that would make Sandy Barbour look like Warren Buffet.
- the inability to tell the truth
- several "deals" wherein PSU was taken to the cleaners.
- sharp declines in the overall performance - both on the field and in the classroom - of the athletic department as a whole.

Yep. Give that man his huge payday and a bonus (which PSU has done) and celebrate "Excellence on the Highest Level"!!!

Sandy B was a bad AD - with real struggles at fiscal accountability.
Kraft has been a Titanic disaster - which is NO SURPRISE at all, given his track record.
But hey, he:
- bounces around the sidelines (when things are going well)
- tells people what they want to hear, regardless of its disconnect to the truth
- and waves his pom-poms and talks about "Championships!!!"

Go State!
