US electrical grid is a joke,.. Have long felt that this needs to be the next big federal project,... Something akin to the Eisenhower interstate highway expansion meets Kennedy's race to the moon.

There's a permitting bill that's floating around right now that could be very good for this. Just listened to a podcast on it.

Shame that democrats have such a foolish outlook on energy policy and resist coal/nuclear power in favor of much dumber and less efficient options like wind.

Yea it does!
Texas ranks among the top 1–2 states (often second to Virginia in data center operational count, sometimes first in total facilities or growth/pipeline).
Yup, because of access to Nat gas and behind the meter electricity. Texas grid reliability is terrible. Extreme weather events (when you most need reliability), are meaningfully higher in Texas than anywhere else.

StateMajor weather outages 2000–23Avg./year
Texas2108.8
Ohio883.7
Virginia833.5
Georgia833.5
Pennsylvania823.4

And this doesn’t include hurricane beryl in 2024, which left millions without power.

I thought your guy was bringing back coal. Where's he at with that? There's plenty of Red states, why aren't all of them heavy coal users?
