should be a good game this evening, Cats should be plenty pumped opening the new Kinnick East stadium
I doubt it will be Kinnick east anymore. They've shrunk it down to the size of a big high school stadium in Texas. Minnesota did the same. The days of us overpowering teams with fans on the road are probably gone. Between Schools downsizing their stadiums and teams like Indiana actually having fans its not like the old days. Maybe a visit to Purdue

I have psu 27 NW 17.
I think NW /IU showed iu is not much above the pack this year, not that NW is real legit.

It's OSU and Oregon and then the pack this year.

ESPN's " FPI" rating has Iowa losing to OSU,NW and Nebraska....so I'm rooting for all three to lose this weekend.

And OSU,iu and mich....they bring tons of fans also.
Should have been 40k+
I just looked it up and their Univ has an endowment of $15 billion dollars, wow. They have lots of wealthy, successful alums but not sure what they donate to athletics.

Not sure if the general endowment can give money to their athletic dept. They bring in around $117 million sort of close to Iowa.

Look who paid for most of their new football stadiwum.

Yes, Northwestern University has extraordinarily large donors who have contributed hundreds of millions of dollars to transform its athletic department and facilities. [1, 2]

📊 Major Benefactors and Contributions
    • 🏟️ The Ryan Family
      • Pat and Shirley Ryan are the largest historical benefactors to Northwestern athletics and the university overall.
      • They funded the brand-new, privately financed Ryan Field project, costing upwards of $850 million.
      • Their prior support funded major campus athletic landmarks including Welsh-Ryan Arena and the Ryan Fieldhouse indoor practice facility.
      • The family also made a historic $480 million overall university gift supporting academics, research, and athletic facilities. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]

Big sugar donators, they could have built the stadium bigger but I have been there for games about 5 times and even when they were pretty good they were lucky to get about 20K of their own fans.

I am an Evanston Hawkeye. The new stadium is beautiful and the old one was a dump. I had Northwestern season tickets for 12 years because it was a great way to see college football for a very reasonable price. They not only made the stadium smaller but they jumped the price of the tickets a bunch. Getting my same seat at the 30 yard line would have cost 4 times as much. I said no thank you.
They did not sell out the place for tonight's P$U game till about a week ago. Let's see what they do for the next week game vs Ball State? But it will be a great place to see a game.

Indiana v. NW last week was one of those games that leaves me wondering, "Is Indiana not so good, or is NW better than they used to be?"

honestly, I have no idea, but NW was very impressive. that QB and the tight ends were really lighting it up, and they just do not give up. going to be another tough one for us in November.

That is a good capacity for them except when they play Iowa, Illinois and Wisky there. A short drive for most fans.
Honestly. I think that's a BIG reason why they did it. Can't sell more then 25-30K tickets on a regular basis, and do NOT want the stadium to be taken over by rival fans for all the tickets they can't sell. Win win for them. Keep the stadium looking fuller, and keep the opponents from having half the fans in the building.

Northwestern's new stadium is pretty sweet, a little small at 35,000 capacity, but they can pack that stadium every week.

They've looked much better than expected and I like them in this matchup.
Small capacity can be accommodated with high ticket prices. Doubt if there are any $60 tickets available for any of the Cats' home games.

I agree. I just think its pretty obvious why the built the smallest stadiums for football (and basketball) in the conference. Rutgers might be smaller in basketball, not sure.

They have already rushed for 3x's the yardage they did against against Indiana.
I think NW might be for real. Chile's is a very good qb, some of you remember what he did to us a few years ago. Made our d look like clowns.
Some were saying Indiana isn't very good this year based on the tight game with NW. I'm not so sure. New stadium is a snakepit even at 70% capacity.
