anybody know what counts as a forced incompletion? Is that different than a pass breakup?

It sounds like if it’s being tracked properly, it’s exactly like a pass breakup…

“Charting forced incompletions and tracking forced incompletion percentage takes understanding cornerback performance to the next level. Because yards allowed per coverage snap, passer rating allowed, etc. all include passes dropped by the receiver and off-target passes, such numbers can be inflated due to opponent error rather than the success or high-end play of the cornerback in question. Forced incompletion percentage adds context to such figures and provides a clearer picture as to which cornerbacks are making plays on the ball and creating incompletions rather than benefitting from fortunate circumstances such as a dropped pass or inaccurate throw.”

Yeah, there has been talk about how many passing yards we have given up, but part of that has been due to us shutting down the run game. Minnesota, USC, and Missouri averaged 43 pass attempts.

Yeah, if you look at what other teams' fans are saying and YouTube analysts, they all say our secondary sucks but will also acknowledge that the individual players are good. They're primarily basing the sucking on the passing yards, which have the exact context you mentioned. I still think we get passed on too easily, but it's not as terrible as the yardage numbers indicate

Minnesota, in particular, only ran the ball twice in the second half and one of those was VERY late in the 4th quarter after the game was already decided.
