Na I don't think that's the real problem. Pope's shortcomings have nothing to do with the fans. But I do feel like he's protected for being a ex player or something. Not sure what it is.
No way you really cannot see how he was not fired after two seasons. Some of the Nancies here are not very smart and may actually be confounded but not you. Why the faux confusion?

By the way, astute fans can still love the ex-player and know he should be fired. I love Joker and wanted him to succeed and hoped Brooks saw something in Joker that would take UK upward, but that does not mean I did not know he needed to go after year 3. We don’t have to hate the coach to know what time it is.

My stance is that he is the guy that has the job and our best chance at success would have been to show him and the program some support. I have said all along that he will obviously need to achieve more to keep the job long term. I do not think he has proven he is the man for the job long term nor has he proven he can't possibly be the guy either. All the negativity only makes things more difficult.
People here know that the best chance for success is support. That is why they give him none.

looking forward to it actually, I hope Mark give us a great season to remember. I won't be frustrated until we lose because he has some chaotic substitution pattern. I am hoping he learned not to promise playing time

Maybe they screwed us. Or maybe a program like Kentucky should never have to pin all their hopes on an 11th-hour transfer who probably wasn’t gonna be eligible because his brother/agent didn’t do his due diligence.

Kentucky basketball should never be held together with bubble gum like it is now.
That statement is why Pope can’t coach here next year

It was not a huge gamble. No public voice was advising Milan to stay in the draft. Even Moreno can say his decision was difficult but was it? G-League fighting for a roster spot, presumably without a guaranteed contract, or get paid 7 figures to work and play college ball. No brainers. I suspect Milan could see himself as an NBA possible but European League shoe-in, but who is paying him what he is making in college? Pope should be a perfect fit for MilMom.

In this age, of course, keeping open roster spots has proven smart.

Usually I’m excited for this time of the year. Last year, I was elated for the coming season, especially after beating Purdue, but now? I wouldn’t call it dread. I know some people are probably dreading this year. But with the football team doing much better than expected, I can’t muster up much to care that college basketball is a month away.
What a foolish post. Another look at my feelings. Grow up, support the team and Coach or don’t.

False. If not for Cal leaving him an empty roster, injuries, and the two most difficult schedules in school history he would have won a lot more to this point. It is pretty incomprehensible that so many fail to acknowledge that schedule, injuries, and fan negativity have an impact on winning and recruiting.
The head coach impacts winning and recruiting way more than fans. When you have a coach like Pope you have to turn and blame fans? Ridiculous man. Seriously that's sad and you can't be serious with that take.

Can you imagine a young fiery coach like Stein blaming fans? Only a coach like Pope. We can acknowledge schedule, injuries, and fan negativity. Can you acknowledge a bad coach? Once again is anything Pope's fault?

The man has had more support than any coach in America. You sound like a rival fan that would rather hear people state the obvious negativity about Pope than to simply admit he's not going to get it done.

I don't know why you think being positive when ther3s no reason to be is going to change anything. The man's in charge. Quit blaming people that have nothing to do with anything.

Good lord we have a big soft coach that ne3ds a bottle and his back burped like a baby. Really embarrassing times for UK ball.

I love Mark Pope. Wanted him to succeed. Nobody's hating the coach. Hes not a good coach and we need better. There's no hate involved. But there's also no bubbles gonna be blown up my ***. Yall do realize this man is nearing his 60s? I'm not sure why he's treated like a little kid with disabilities. Really just a odd situation all around.

If Pope shows something different this year im sure the tide will change. But ten plus loss seasons every year don't excite BBN.

The man flew across the world this summer. He has more than any coach. He just isn't the right man for the job. He can't use his resources because he isn't a resource. He doesn't have it. Simple.

Blame the fans for Mark Popes personality and complete lack to read a room. Yea ok. It was my fault he takes them goofy cornball pictures with recruits also.

you and Paul are both blaming fans...call won't have to do those type of things for Stein because he's a big boy.

Once again you dodged what you actually wrote. Caught in the troll much? 😂

What am I blaming fans for? 😝 The season has not even begun. Blame for what? The fact is that fans’ support is helpful. “Fans’” consistent degrading is not. Fact.

Don’t go blaming me for your victim hood.
No you respond more than anyone tho about pointless stuff. You don't even have a take. Just a personal thing for me lol. Never been a victim in my life.

Not sure how saying Pope is a bad coach is being a victim but hey you got your thing.

I wouldn't say I am indifferent towards the upcoming season.

I would say it very plainly.

Coach Pope has to come through this year. Overacheive. There is no other way to stay.

In other words, hell yes, he needs to make a Final Four this year. Win the conference, overachieve with what he has got. Go kill 'em !

Coach Mark Pope and his team are going to have to overacheive in the eyes of many, and prove themselves, and the program, to once again be at the highest levels. It's a huge, tall ask. But not even an ask at this point.

Make or break season.

Starting out with more injuries on the list than the football team has is a disaster staring you in the eye, Coach Pope. Horrendous look. God help us. Will Kam be truly ready by the beginning of the season?!? Everyone else??

At some point, things happen over and over again, regardless of how/why it happens .... there has to be a point of no return and a new coach has to step in. It's on three years now. It's been extremely difficult. This year there is no excuses. There can be none.

Just go get it done against this schedule you have this year, wildcats. Win everything at home. Retain Rupp arena with everything we have, every game. Kentucky could actually win all the big games at home and play well enough to win the other big games? Yeah baby, that ship would be rocking as the saeason goes with this team and schedule. So as crazy as it sounds, it is possible, I'm a Kentucky fan, so Wth. We can do it. Go get it done.

So nah, it'll be interesting to note how everything we thought all this offseason, once it is all said and done. Another season awaits....

Go Big Blue !

Aw ok so you don't take everything literal after all. What you said about Moreno there. He said it was difficult but was it?..... so you do have the ability to be human and understand simple things.

And as far as Moreno...yeah I agree with you...was it really a hard decision...did he really have all that leverage😂

When Pope literally had the guy committed and then still lost him i just gave up. Just another scenario I've never seen. It isn't funny but I had to laugh when I woke up and seen Mitchell back to Missouri after celebrating his commitment. That was Pope's chance and it just isn't going to work out.

I just hope he steps down and the separation doesn't have to be ugly.
You're fooling no one with your many accounts. Stop with the ragebait, go read up on why Mitchell decided to go back to Missouri.

Pope’s dopes- waiting until nearly the 11th hour to sign Milan was a stroke of genius.

Rational folks- man, he got lucky. Most other teams have spent their money and/or have completed their roster.

Pope’s dopes- Sankey ruined our chance at Mitchell.
Rational folks- he should have known to talk to the President of the university for clarification. The president voted for the rule and again reaffirming it. Pope treated this like a clown show- and almost hurt Mitchell in the process.

Popes Dope’s- we didn’t miss on Wright- he was never leaving.
Rational folks- yeah, lol. We got used for Rob to get more money.

Dopes- the fans hurt Dope’s recruiting.
Rational Folks- LOL

Dopes- any negative comment is from miserable whiners.
Rationale Folks- uh, this board isn’t real life. It’s a diversion. We can be successful and happy in real life while still complaining about the goofy coach and his crap record.

I get why he went to Missouri. I didn't blame Pope for him going back. But he went back regardless. Basically Pope can't win for losing is what I was saying.

Yall are extremely weird with the constant rage bating accusations when it's yall that try extremely hard to ragebait and troll. It's yall that can't hold basic conversations. Not me.
Like extremely weird at this point. Simply say an opinion and the same circle jerk crew shows up every time. Nobody feels raigebaited except for the same four or five people every time. Good lord.

The bottom line is this is all Calipari's fault. If he hadn't lost his fire his last few years here he would still be here. Pope was the only replacement we could get. Just have to see how this year plays out i think.
