Based on the headline, it's disgraceful. Dig a little deeper and it's understandable. Republicans attached voting act language. Republicans carved out exceptions and added language to hide existing holdings.

Dems also said they didn't vote for it because it didn't go far enough. That's a BS political excuse. The other reasons are good enough.

This is how it works. A bill is proposed that neither side wants passed. So they put stuff in there that keeps it from passing. When it inevitably fails, both sides can point to each other as the problem, they can show that they're "trying", and they still get to keep on doing it.

Did they tell you it still allowed lawmakers to keep the stocks they already owned and allowed family members to trade for them?

Did they tell you the Voter ID portion had poison pills from the Save America Act that would have made it difficult for many Americans to vote by mail?

this debate reminds me of the John Kerry quote " I did actually vote for the bill before I voted against it". And in Washington, that actually makes sense.
