Voted 3 although I would be more likely to say 2 if I had to back my mouth up with my wallet. I think at Maryland is one and ether Michigan, at Wisconsin, or Michigan State is the potential 3rd.

2, either Mich St or Maryland but not both. And even beating one would mean an upset. Not too long ago he never got past midfield in a 37-0 laugher at Maryland. This Maryland team isn’t as good at that one, but this RU team is worse than its team that year too.

If we end 8-4 then I’ll say it right now- sign up GS for an extension but it’s like a <1% chance

At this point if he can go 3-6 in conference it would be a big accomplishment given the 0-3 start but if we finish 4-8 he must be fired
He is gone, KZ is gonna bring in here own coach

The likely outcome

only save for GS is to go 6-2 and finish 7-5 but it’s just not going to happen.

We will win again but it’s probably a 3-4 win season with 5 if we stay healthy and catch some breaks

Déjà vu…..FIRE, FIRE, FIRE!!!!
get ready for another 5 years of the next Chris Ash.
You cack me up....while Al and a few others are simply delusional at this point....I'm pretty sure you are THE only poster who thinks we're gonna fumble this hiring. You have expressed this feeling - in some words or another - a slew of times now. This isn't 1996 nor is it 2016. This is the 1st time we've had to right combination of leadership (Prez/AD) as well as the right conference and $$$.

I'm confused about what the point you are trying to make.

1. We shouldn't consider firing Schiano because Zinn is going to make a terrible hire? That would seem to imply we should fire Zinn - if we can't trust the AD to make a good FB hire. Eventually Schiano will need to be replaced. He could have a health issue and retire at the end of the year. You don't trust Zinn to replace him?

2. You trust Zinn to make a good hire - but that hire would overall be worse than Schiano? That would seem to imply there are no viable HC candidates that could potentially do better than our current state under Schiano. So Schiano is maximizing our limited resources and we can't do any better?
That's depressing to consider. In the entire world of coaching candidates and possible outcomes - there isn't a chance we could improve over 1-3 with losses to UMass and BC.

What does “like a <1% chance’ mean ?

I predict 4 win season. Greg fired after the last game. Think we’ll win a few. Duff too good for us not to.

4-8 would be painful because it should have been 6-6 with a Bowl game to finish the season.

The 3rd win would have to be Michigan St or NWU. Greg just doesn't beat teams like Michigan or Wisc.
I don't think this Northwestern team is a typical Northwestern team. They slapped Colorado around fairly easily and trailed at Indiana by 2 with 2:00 remaining in the game. Either they are improved this year or Indiana isn't as good as they were the past two seasons. I guess we'll find that out Saturday.

Greg might already have been fired for Michigan State if RU is 2-9 on a 5-game skid.
