Spain Getting Better

[cernjSHU]

Watching Spain beat England and Spain beat Croatia in the Nations Cup has shown that they are even a better team than they were during the World Cup. Lamine Yamal, Nico Williams and Fermin Lopez all healthy again. They are putting on a show and they are not just beating mid level teams. We are talking about two top 10 teams and really were dominant in both games except during a 15 minute period where England scored two goals.

They are playing beautiful soccer and scored three against England and four against Croatia.

I'm more interested in how good the USMNT has looked this window, with 13 of the 28 players on the roster (at an average age of 19) making their first national team appearances. The kids have looked really good and the team has been scoring (4-1 over Peru and a come from behind 4-2 over Chile after the shaky first half). 17 year old Cavan Sullivan already looks like a stud, and has been in monster form for his club also.

It's just friendlies, so the results don't matter, but seeing so much young talent come in and perform well is encouraging for the future.

I watched Sullivan play. He belonged in the pitch. The US men’s team is a hard watch for me. They can beat the bad teams but any team that is good, they crumble and can’t even hold possession. I want to watch the best soccer. The best soccer and most beautiful soccer is being played by Spain and no one is close to touching them.

I have said this for a long time. Until the US starts to value technical players who can maintain possession instead of just having athletes, this team goes no where.
