Four-Star Forward Brandon Woodard commits to Rutgers Basketball
Class of 2027 four-star forward Brandon Woodard out of Maryland has committed to Rutgers Basketball following an official visit to campus.
Some of you guys are relly phukking miserable.Having one of our best recruiting classes ever now that high school recruiting doesn't mean anything anymore
The Save College Sports Act if it passes will make it much more difficult to keep players recruited right out of high school. Players who already transferred will be reluctant to transfer again because they will have to sit out a year and presumably lose a year’s compensation because who is going to pay for a player who can’t play that year. The schools with big NIL budgets will go after players like Rutgers recruits if they play well at Rutgers because they won’t have to sit out if they transfer.Keep the 4 stars coming. The save college sports act will help with retention. We beat out some very good programs for him.
Less than 2 weeks till Villanova scrimmage. Anxious to see this year’s team in action.
I thought you can’t win with frosh
lol idk if I’ll ever get over the Harper Bailey yearI thought you can’t win with frosh
It still means something, though it means way more if we keep them in the program for a while. Hopefully the Zinn/Tate admin's focus on fundraising and NIL means our retention improves, along with portal hauls (and this year's looked like a step in the right direction).Having one of our best recruiting classes ever now that high school recruiting doesn't mean anything anymore
Freshmen become sophomores, and who said that they are being counted on to play major roles their first year.I thought you can’t win with frosh
Super impressive to get 3 4*s. Question is how many can we keep after year 1?
shaking up to be the 2nd best recruiting class ever behind the “never will be beaten” Harper/Bailey class
It’s a good point and maybe…also as we Jamie commits aren’t commits until they sign so if some school comes up with more money we may lose some of these guysthis and some of the other points aligned with my own questions. Looking at the national rankings, we have more commitments than most of the other power for schools. Trying to figure out how much of our success results from other schools prioritizing the portal so they are fielding teams with considerably older rosters allow a program like Rutgers to access more high school talent. school talent…
Even if the NCAA made the rule, it would never standup in court. Guys can sign in about a month, just does not seem to be an issue for basketball compared to football. It’s a good point and maybe…also as we Jamie commits aren’t commits until they sign so if some school comes up with more money we may lose some of these guys
I wish the ncaa made a change that says when you commit you can’t back out unless of a coaching change, medical issue etc as there is zero value to saying it’s a “commit” when it’s really more of a “I think il coming but you won’t know until I sign”
the notes thing is if most P4 programs prioritize portal guys then it means the mid and low majors will start getting more and more higher ranked HS kids as they ga e to go somewhere. There are only so many seats
Less in hoops I agreeI

Because the better programs are going after 5 stars or transfers. It’s natural for an increasing number of 4 star players and below to drop to lower teams with the free-for-all that is college basketball. That being said, it’s a good job by Pike and it makes sense, as a mediocre power conference team, to go after 4 stars as long as we also get good transfers. Not sure it ever makes sense for us to take a 3’star hs senior ever again however, provided the ratings are somewhat accurate of course.Having one of our best recruiting classes ever now that high school recruiting doesn't mean anything anymore
And who’s to say they don’t leave for a bigger bagFreshmen become sophomores, and who said that they are being counted on to play major roles their first year.
And we were told two years ago we had talent and defense. And who know what will be here in 2027-28?You can’t win with 2 elite frosh and no talent/defense.
You can win when you’re adding them to a team with talent and defense.
