Giants trade for J.J. McCarthy, giving new life to QB buried on Vikings roster — USA TODAY

The Giants made a major move to acquire QB talent after a season-ending injury to start Jaxson Dart.

apple.news

MaCarthy was a great example of a mediocre player on a top college team with lots of talent around him. He never looked like a first rounder and was more proof the NFL isn't really that great at drafting . Great WRs not only mean more catches and TDs but less INTs because the great WRs know how to fight and win toss-up balls.

Corum on Michigan had 27 TDs the year of the NC. Michigan's OL was epic with all of the 5 guys All-BIG

Former All-Pro wide receiver on JJ McCarthy: ‘He’s not very good’

The Giants weren't gettting an obvious quality starter from another team just as the season is getting underway. What was available was various versions of what they ultimately got. So we'll see. We all knew the situation when Dart went down.

I think it's a good gamble for a 5th rounder. I much would have preferred trying to talk Jimmy Garoppolo out of retirement and kick the tires on him to see what he's got left. But this is pretty much the best we can expect at this point, with Jameis looking like he's lost it.

I expected this. OBJ hasn't been very good for a while. He had a lot of bad injuries. I could say NYGs should never have brought him back but he makes a few ducats and maybe gets set-up to retire a Giant

Nice try, but I agree that it was the injuries and surgeries. The injuries more than anything made him unplayable. If he had just the normal declination in skills that receivers get at his age, he certainly could have still produced, if not at the all-world level. He had a ton of different skills. But multiple injuries took any chance of that away.

Athan looks 20 times better then Winston

[RUnotentertained]

Defense is horrible

[ClassOf02v.2]

Defense getting absolutely carved up by Arizona. Horrible.

[koleszar]

What a turnaround for the D. Thought they were going to get destroyed giving up two TD's on the 1st two drives. Fast forward, 2 turnovers and nothing but 3 and outs since.

Winston even showing some patience and smarts on the Fields TD. Now another TD pass. We're going to the Superbowl! Going for two so early and chasing points because a computer told you to was stupid.

Reese is a beast.

[RUnotentertained]

Reese is playing like he’s from 1986

[ClassOf02v.2]

A switch flipped on D. They’re playing like the 86 Giants. But Jameis man….six point swing at the end of the half with the INT (which should have been an FG at a minimum) and the Cardinals 60 yd FG.

[Postman_1]

Reese reminds me of Jessie Armstead.

Such a Giants way to end the half. They had an easy 3 for them, only to turn it over and have the Cards kicker hit a career long 60 yarder as time expired. That may end up costing them the game

[koleszar]

I should have known better with Jameis. The good times usually never last more than a quarter.

[mdk02]

Paging JJ McCarthy.

[koleszar]

I think that's about it for Jameis. No one can even figure out who he was throwing to on that int.. How fast can they get JJ McCarthy up to speed?

[ClassOf02v.2]

Damn, that was a rollercoaster of a game.

[RUnotentertained]

Cowboys sneak one out
Giants could’ve had an even better Sunday

might be Athan vs Giants next week No idea how Daniels is going to be able to take a hit on his elbow

[RUInsanityToo]

It's certainly not been pretty, but I'll take 3-1 considering the GMen only had 4 wins all of last season.

[Postman_1]

Giants win and philthadelphia lose! That makes for a great Sunday.

That was a horrible PI call on Banks that set up the end of the game.

[willisneverrana43]

. . .

That was a horrible PI call on Banks that set up the end of the game.

Yup. Banks looks like a different man this year. He’s really battling out there.

[Caliknight]

That dude has sucked for years. Shocked the Giants signed him

[RUfrom NJ]

3-1 and 1st in the NFC East

[Kbe4]

Anyone check the Giants schedule...who is up next for them ?
Washington. And Athan Kaliakmanis.
