yes - Mississippi Memorial StadiumWas this the game in Jackson? If so, this was the first State game I ever attended.
it was about as hot as this September. Brutal.I’m also fixated by the fan with the giant white hat, just above McDole; two seats down from the guy with the plastic fireman hat.
we didn't play Georgia in 80 or 81, we played them in '82 at Scott FieldUF was 1-10 that year.
The next year they beat State in Gainesville at the beginning of the year with a ShiTON of paid players. It was our only SEC loss of the season.
Crooked Charley Pell was the UF coach and they had to forfeit all of their wins that season where they used players the NCCA finally deemed ineligible. One of them was our game.
So officially we were undefeated in the SEC and were given the chance to share the 1980 SEC championship with UGA. We declined.
The next season we played an amazing game against UGA in Memorial Stadium where Haddix had more yards than Herschel Walker.
We're moving down the field to score what would have been the winning touchdown. but lost on a 17n inexplicable John Bond fumble.
His own knee may have hit the ball, but from the replay it looked like the ball turned into a helium balloon and just started floating straight up.
Injuns are real and God is not an MSU fan.
Never forget it.
So MSU to decline a SEC title.UF was 1-10 that year.

1981. Sitting in south end zone. It was glorious.View attachment 1461248
does anyone remember this catch by Mardee against Florida to break open a tight game? There are 3 gators chasing him and the ball that was slightly overthrown but he tips it to himself and races to the end zone. Might have been the fall of 1979?
Acturally it was worst. They finished 0-10-1, they tied Georgia Tech the week before us. Was there for the game and we returned to the hotel in Jackson and there was a bunch of gator fans in the room next to us and we listened to their cussing, yelling and moaning for a hour before we decided to go grab a steak at the Sizzler on 55. They kept saying, "GD, it was only Miss State." We laughed all the way to the Sizzler.UF was 1-10 that year.

THE "run Lindsey run" play is what cost us the Sugar Bowl.
