A little note about concessions at NRF...

For the $5 menu (hot dogs, hamburgers, nachos, popcorn), you need to pay with the app.

When you log into the app, scroll all the way down to "Unlock the $5 menu" and then add credit card info, which allows you to pay through the app just by scanning QR code. If you don't pay this way, then you have to pay full price.

This is their very smart attempt to get people through the line as quickly as possible.
(EDIT: I mean this sincerely as a compliment, wasn't being snarky!)

Just mentioning this to save some people the trouble of having all their purchases on the scanner and THEN you have to get your credit card out and enter all the info. I was fortunate to learn this on Friday when no one was waiting behind me.

Fair warning: There is a "3 for $12.99" offer on the $5 menu items that was not working on Friday; at least not at the station where I was...the guy said they were still working out the kinks. In this case it's only an extra $2 so it wasn't a hill I was gonna die on (but honestly it was the only reason I bought a third item!)

Along this line kind of disappointed (given everything digital now) that NU not offering STH discount on concessions as this is the norm these days. I get 10% discount at Wrigley and Bears go even better at 20% (alcohol not included).

The prices were sky high outside of the $5 menu. I easily spent $100 on concessions Friday night for my family of four.

Are you actually able to get this at Bears games? Usually when I try, the scanner doesn't work or the employee doesn't know how it works, and I bag it so I can get back to the game.

Um...an alcohol discount would be nice...I only noticed for the first time (I'm sure this was true at the lakefront stadium) that the alcohol tax is 22% which along with other fun taxes took my $14 Miller Lite to over $17. Guess I'm still sneaking in the flask to the nice new place.

Actually worked fine last night. TBH it's sometimes amateur hour at Wrigley trying to use the discount.

Full disclosure, I rarely buy at either. No need to at Wrigley given you bring in all your own food/drink. Last night was outlier given MNF. Never buy at Sunday games.

I too don't get why alcohol gets excluded from a STH discounts. I totally get you don't want to have dollar beer nights but I don't think a 10% discount that would take a $17 beer down to $15 range is going to result in a bunch of out of control drunks.

My honest guess is there are a lot more people who want to be in the conversation about how much the beer costs and no one is really fighting over the discount on nachos.
