is the backup QB. I am tickled by the "Play Cutter!!!" posts. The coaches see all the QBs in practice every day. They know who is the best.

Beamer should put Cutter in for the first half against UK. When he totally craps the bed and we are down 21-0, the fans will shut up about Cutter. If we lose the game, Beamer won't have to worry about the fans b****ing about not playing Cutter.

That’s why we all want to see it for ourselves. Sellers is playing really poorly. We saw it all last season, and we will continue to see it going forward. I’ve been pushing for Cutter since the preseason.

Only if the starter is not producing. Beams seems to be putting players feelings ahead of winning. Or maybe he's worried to face the dilemma if Woods plays lights out, who does he start the next game.

"in practice"

The only 2 words that matter. - Some players are completely different under the lights of a real game. Won't know until we give him a shot.

Cutter might suck. But we know Sellers sucks. What could it hurt at this point? Might be good for Sellers to sit for a while. The Bama game was a huge missed opportunity to give Woods some time in my opinion. It might have benefitted Sellers…a lot of coaches bench their QBs for their own benefit. What did Sellers have to gain by getting curb stomped even more in the 2nd half?

We know who Sellers is at this point. What we saw from him in 2024 was a fluke. A lot of improvising that doesn’t happen anymore…and labeling him as “unstoppable” for putting up 17 points at Clemson. In the future, let’s keep that label for someone who at least puts up 30 in the game. What a waste of money we’ve spent on that guy the past 2 years.

I agree with this for this most part. However, I do think Cutter or any of our backup QBs should have played more in games where the outcome was already decided. For example, why wait until 2 minutes in the 4th Quarter to take Sellers out in the Alabama game. That game was over once Alabama scored to make it 42-18. A backup QB could have had 2 series of game action. In that time, you could have stumbled onto something that you didn't see in practice. As you know, I am fully behind Sellers and argued with you about it in the past. However, I am always about the team first and there were things this coaching staff could have done to get a backup QB more ready to play IMO.

We don't know what the coaches see and what resonates with them in practice. And they also get tunnel vision. For some reason QB gets special treatment by many of them and they won't make a change but they will quickly at other positions. Nick Saban made QB changes in national title and SEC championship games and our staff can't even consider doing something different in a regular season game? Sellers just hasn't been getting it done for a season and a quarter now, not at least trying someone else when the game still matters is just illogical at this point.

Reading your post, I'm just playing devils advocate. I'm not arguing with you.

Maybe it's because the staff have no confidence whatsoever in Cutter or the #3. If that is the case, and you put the #2 on the field and he gets seriously hurt, then you have basically no back up plan if Sellers gets hurt. ??

It really has nothing to do with Cutter for me (I'm the one who started the thread to put Cutter in against Bama). I've said previously, I'm not all that hyped about Cutter. But it was obvious that we weren't winning the game with Sellers. At that point, why not try something else?

I don’t think a back up plan is really necessary at this point. You do have Lucian Anderson, Duckworth, and a few walk ons.

It should have been preached all off season and during spring practice to the offense and the defense: "Our first two games, Sellers will start and we're going to build a good lead in the first half. Then, We're going to play Cutter the whole second half in both games to get him some experience. Experience at key positions will HELP THIS TEAM in the long run and that's what we're going to do....so everyone get mentally prepared for that. And Defense.... you will especially play your butts off in the second half of each of these games to ensure we come away with the W. This is not complicated. Dismissed."

I'm not quite getting your post because I thought Cutter was the #2. If he is not, that's fine. Get whoever the #2 is some time in the event that your hypothetical (Sellers getting hurt) happens. Beamer is almost playing the QB situation like an NFL coach where the starter plays whether you are winning 50-0 or losing 50-0.

Cutter is the #2. - I see the confusion. I'll re-write it.

Maybe it's because the staff have no confidence whatsoever in Cutter (#2) or the #3 (??). If that is the case, and you put Cutter (#2) on the field and he gets seriously hurt, then you have basically no back up plan if Sellers (#1) gets hurt. ??

If that is the case, it doesn't matter. We're bleeped and yet another reason that Beamer should be on his way out. You are in Year 6, but you have to play a QB that has lost his confidence because the other QBs can't play.

I don't disagree with you at all. Only thing I can say is that as you said, it's year 6, but year 6 ain't over yet. From a math standpoint, we could wind up being 10-2 or 2-10. - I think 8-4 is max and I wouldn't be surprised. But 6-6 would also likely save his job for year 7 simply because of the buyout and no other reason. But, if he gets a year 7 - he'll be starting over with a brand new QB anyway so he's picking his poison either way. Should have played Cutter the entire 3rd qtr vs those first 2 teams and the #3 QB the entire 4th qtr of those first 2 games. - That would not have hurt Sellers in any way, shape or form. It would have been good for him and the team. But alas, that's common sense and we can't have that.

I think Beamer and staff wanted to pad Seller's stats in the early games to pump up the media praise on him and the offense. If you looked at the UGA QB's stats from their first two games, he was pulled fairly early in the 2nd quarter. Because of that, he was near the bottom of SEC QBs when ranked by completions and total passing yards, but apparently, Kirby didn't care. He wanted the backups to get more playing time in game situations.

I really didn't understand putting Cutter in for the last useless possession against Bama. What was that supposed to teach Cutter? How to watch the clock wind down on a loss? Against Towson, a totally hapless opponent, Cutter was 1 of 3 for 1 yard. 3 passes! If nothing else, Beamer and Briles should want him to have more experience in the event Sellers, a QB who likes to run and gets hit, goes down.
