We didn’t lose that game in ‘94. I was there. Total screw job.Well since our wide receivers have generally been pretty bad throughout our history, I can't even remember another great catch like that other than Moulds against Alabama (which is a game we lost). So since we won this game and this catch was a big reason why, I'd have to put it number one.
Bear's one-handed grab while getting molested by the LSU defender in the end zone is definitely on my list. Those were the types of routes and catches we had not made previously.I'm going to say a "top 5" for me......and only b/c I do not want to put any of them in any order.....
this catch, moulds, and will always be a DeRunya fan
It's kind of hard to judge how good or bad our receivers have been because until recently, most of our QBs have been passing challenged.Well since our wide receivers have generally been pretty bad throughout our history, I can't even remember another great catch like that other than Moulds against Alabama (which is a game we lost). When you say it like that, yea, I can agree with that for sure.......... get a few wins in these next 4, and we may look at that catch as part of a catalyst that put us in a new direction....But Ant's catch Saturday in terms of sheer gravity-defying physical feat and effort, and at that time of that game...
thought the exact same thing......Have no idea what he did to physically get to that ball!!I have no idea where it ranks. But when I saw it in flight I thought, "Damn, KT overthrew one". And then that happened.
I recall a lot more drops in the past. I'm not sure if that was because they were so surprised that the QB got it to them or just not good at catching. It's kind of hard to judge how good or bad our receivers have been because until recently, most of our QBs have been passing challenged.
I'm glad others remember the Moulds v. Tennessee catch - it's a shame the Moulds catch v. Tennessee, 1994 is such terrible quality video. It's impossible to appreciate how athletic that was, jumping both high and backward.I'm going to say #1. Just an incredible effort that kept the drive alive and probably won the game.
2. Moulds v Tennessee in 94 on 4th down to extend the game winning drive. He used all of his 40" vertical to pull it down.
3. Moulds v Bama 94 in the endzone. I thought the ball was sailing out the back of the endzone. Then Moulds uses the 40" vertical to snatch it.
4. Fred Ross at Arkansas 2015. What a one handed grab. What a burst of athleticism to out run the Arkansas guy to the endzone.
This. The WR room has to be the most talented we have had in 20 years or more. It's more than just talent it's a "can do" attitude that separates them from the others.I recall a lot more drops in the past. Ive said this in other threads. They aren't just incredibly fast. They run good routes and catch the ball when its thrown their way. When I see a receiver open, I don't care who it is; K1 will get them the ball and they will catch it.This. The WR room has to be the most talented we have had in 20 years or more. The Fred Ross one handed catch and run in Fayetteville is probably the best that I remember
Moulds against Bama was impressive as heck too. I think those two and the Evans catch are the Top 3.
Another good one is the 2012 Malcolm Johnson catch in the endzone against UT.
