Ironically, may have cost Michigan the game. I thought Diaz’s comment was totally overblown and taken out of context at the time. However, the CBS crew was all over it at the start of the game. By the way the Michigan DB’s were in Diaz’s face and jawing with him from the start, this comment was obviously something the Michigan staff jumped on and used as bulletin board material. I think their DB’s felt disrespected by it. So my question is, if Diaz doesn’t make that innocent comment, does Berry shove him out of bounds and get flagged, keeping Iowa’s hopes alive? I don’t think so.

The Boogeyman is brilliant!

on the flip side maybe the comment fired them up to overachieve and manage to actually keep diaz from burning them a lot worse :)

Thought about that too. They were obviously obsessed with shutting him down to a fault. Pride cometh before the fall.

Great example of how KF occasionally wins these games by keeping his guys play even keel for the whole game. The ANF guys talked about that in the pod before the game.

RVZ is a physical specimen. Didn’t realize how strong that kid is. I mean, we’re talking Nebraska strong.

and here I thought the mental game between WRs and DBs was overblown and mostly only in the NFL. This def shows the importance of having a threat like Diaz on the field and the importance of having the other guys ready to step up when it's time.

"Pride cometh before the fall." If only that were true in all phases of life, because we have some all-time great candidates for the fall right now. May karma come for all those folks the way it came for Michigan.

Then proceeded to drop the first ball right on his hands.
Tony, that is, yes. Yes he did. Diaz did appear to be a little nervous, especially early. Playing at Rio Grande Valley may not fully prepare you for life on the road in the BIG. But I think Diaz will learn a lot from his Michigan experience and continue to be a great threat for the Hawkeyes. After all, Jerry Rice didn't do too bad after playing for the Delta Devils at Mississippi Valley State.
