Nope, never. Movie? TV show? Sorry if I'm not cool.Tell me you’ve never seen The Wire!?
Yeah, now I see. Don't have HBO. We don't waste our money on subscription services.
But still not seeing the connection to UCLA. A 20 plus year old series?

Can you explain the connection to LA or UCLA? That's what I'm missing. Wasn't the show set in Baltimore? So why should someone connect it with UCLA?Blocked and reported…
I’ll be generous to others and say it’s a top 3-5 tv series of all time so it’s memes live forever. Similar to Sopranos memes still being relevant. This one works very, very well
I’ve never seen show either but have looked it up in the past because so many people love it.Can you explain the connection to LA or UCLA? That's what I'm missing. Wasn't the show set in Baltimore? So why should someone connect it with UCLA?
Of course NJ people knows the Sopranos, and it's more popular than The Wire.
No direct connection. It’s a scene of everyone running away because the most feared character, Omar is coming. Like the B1G should be afraid because UCLA is coming. Can you explain the connection to LA or UCLA? That's what I'm missing. Wasn't the show set in Baltimore? Mentioned this above but Lupoi and his new OC are giving the same feels as Ash and Merhinger at RU. First time head coach might have been better with a more experienced hand but that also means he had to have those connections to call upon as well.
Yea but he’s got more experience now after working under others compared to when Ash hired him here. The comparison I’m making is first time defensive HC hiring an inexperienced OC…like what happened here with Ash and Mehringer seems potentially similar to Lupoi and Somerville. They’ve got a capable qb, if you’re a Cal fan you’d hope the talent doesn’t get wasted.Mehringer called a good game yesterday for the Ducks, unless he is not calling the plays.
Oh, I wasn't comparing the two, just giving Drew props fi good work.Yea but he’s got more experience now after working under others compared to when Ash hired him here. They’re students I enjoyed the enthusiasm and the WMU reference as well.![]()
I'll be a Vito downer here. Calm down. Not a fan of Northwestern Stewart Mandel either. Sorry.
I liked the WMU reference, but I have a sore spot for announcers who get too excited and scream into the microphones. They’re students I enjoyed the enthusiasm and the WMU reference as well.
Only 1/3 of the way through but Sumrall, Chesney, Morris, Stein doing some good things. We’ll see if they can keep it up or not.
Mentioned that yesterday in the attendance thread to one of our Maryland visitors. Sometimes there’s an opportunity cost to inaction. As a fan sometimes it’s obvious and sometimes we may not even realize what opportunities slipped by.Highly recommend the Forde article:
THIS is why action has to be taken asap:
If the Terrapins had fired Locksley last year, after a second straight 4–8 campaign, they might have been able to get into the mix to hire the guy from James Madison who emasculated Maryland on Saturday, Bob Chesney. Instead, Chesney is a phenom at UCLA and Maryland is trying to decide when (not if) it will send Locksley out the door. Losing 54–3, being outrushed 266–34 and committing five turnovers is no way to salvage any shred of job security. The Oct. 17 game between Schiano and Locksley looms as a potential matchup of dead men walking.
People fail to consider "opportunity cost" when they get bound up in the emotions and sentimentality of holding on to a coach who has "worked hard" and been with the school for a long time. While feelings and emotions are nice, they have no place for programs in a death spiral, and both Rutgers and Maryland are indeed swirling around bottom of the bowl of the B1G. My fear is Rutgers will show some sort of signs of life and win 2-3 games, and people will say give him some more time.Mentioned that yesterday in the attendance thread to one of our Maryland visitors. It’s still early in Chesney’s tenure but he did seem like a natural fit for them.. I actually mentioned him for the Cuse when Chesney was still at Holy Cross..either of these east coast P4 schools could’ve have taken a gamble on him.
I suppose it took CC at IU to open people’s eyes that there are solid coaches at the lower levels that are worthy of a shot.
