Michigan’s defense is tough. This is nowhere near a BF/Petras offense like some nimrods have suggested.
Well, as a few of us keep saying, PASS the DAMN BALL! And pass it DOWN the DAMN FIELD!
Lester called a game worthy of Brian Ferentz for at least 58 minutes, and then the final play was executed to absolute perfection. Fantastic route and catch by Vander Zee, and a perfect pass from Hank Brown that brought back memories of 2009 at MSU when it was Stanzi to McNutt for the win on the final play of the game when "7 got 6." And then there was that little play in the Capitol One Bowl when it was Tate to Hollaway for 50+ yards to beat LSU and Saban, the defending national champs.
WOW. Just WOW! A 91-yard drive with under 2 minutes, and a 16-yard TD pass on the final play. UNBELIEVABLE! In front of 110,000 people in the BIG HOUSE. Karma visited Ann Arbor today and, man, it is sweet.

Great points but the hawks were passing the ball on the TD drive that put them ahead 14-13 and also passing it on the drive that resulted in the missed 51 FG try. So we had to pass and we did it well in the last 20 minutes and I hope we mix passing the ball more all the way through games.
The play action pass was working. Need it to keep progressing. I was struggling to understand why we didnt get Diaz the ball more in space. So many times he had a 10 yard cushion. Why don't we get him the ball immediately.
Yes, Iowa had few rush attempts and put up few points.
And what's hilarious is how many of you guys don't realize that even the few rush attempts made the late passing game possible, and gave the defense a chance to keep it a game

But how adorable, there you go again like a moth to a light to minimize the forward pass despite its usage literally being the overwhelming cause for the win. Good special teams and defense remained constant. An offense actually spreading the field and moving the ball through the air is the variable that changed the outcome, despite you being so convinced otherwise that such a thing is possible.
Just forget it. If eyes had his way, BF would still be our OC, our offense would be climbing to about 110th in the country and he would be preaching to all of us about how we don't understand the brick-by-brick foundation he was building that will eventually give us a solid offense in the year 2038.
The oline could not run block. But they sure held their own in the pass blocking against their rush ends. I don't recall Brown getting touched. He had time. I wish we could have taken a few deep shots. Very little play action either?

I've said many times that I would have never made BF OC, because I knew what fans would turn it into

I honestly believe he would rather Iowa had run the ball 15 times more and lost, than win by throwing the ball. I’m sure that isn’t the case, but he sure gives that impression.
And every single power rush attempt contributed to being able to slow down the pass rush
He was sacked twice and flushed a couple of times but overall the pass blockers kept him clean
But I wish Lester would run more sweeps or pitches outside where if just one defender gets knocked off his lane there is a hole and it also makes those big fat *** DTackles have to run side to side. They said one of Mich's DTackles was 330 and he was probably not real fat as I kid
You do have to run the ball once in awhile even when trying to make that late game passing game work. That is why to old Draw play was so successful and now the running on 3rd down is out of shotgun so not called a Draw but a delay and it works when defenders are all out pass rushing
But you were his biggest supporter, constantly preached to fans that we didn't understand what a great job he was doing, never admitted that BF was underqualified for the OC job, and rarely criticized the job he was doing, always blaming the fans for his undoing.

Enlighten us: how did that "power running" contribute to slowing down Michigan's pass rush on the last drive when everyone knew Iowa had to pass ever down?

You said two true things there.
I don't believe BF was unqualified.
And I rarely criticized his performance as OC.
Learn how to read
Nowhere have I minimized what Brown has done.
I don't necessarily believe Iowa would be 2-2 without it.
And your characterization of games before this season is inaccurate
And how is that minimizing the pass, and being convinced that passing isn't valuable enough to change games, as you are accusing me of saying?

You can't possibly be serious.
Do you understand the fact that running allows the offense to hit the defense? Whereas, passing allows the D to tee off on the offense?
I'm not going to waste my time further explaining something that's been fundamental to the game since the advent of the forward pass. And something that branches from the most fundamental truth in the game.
If you aren't able to figure it out, then perhaps you shouldn't post about Iowa football to large groups of the public
