I'm think I might be done with PSU football after that abysmal offensive performance and the continuation of defensive meltdowns in key situations. It might be time for the Alex Manske era to begin. Can it be any worse than what Becht showed today? Very disappointing for a 5th year QB - overrated.
No it's only the first loss and I'm sure we've got more coming....
My guess is that PSU will eventually give in and join the rat race - hire an immoral coach and raise gobs of money to buy talent. Kraft will be fired before that change.
Don't worry, he's probably being paid a ton for that gawd awful performance. Thanks Krafty The Clown - he's ultimately responsible for this extremely expensive, embarrassing $*&t show.
I think he’s got a couple seasons after this year to demonstrate he can right the ship (meaning the CFP once again is legitimately attainable). But, I’ve been concerned about recruiting under him and his staff. We will see where things go with Campbell.
However, my instinct before he was even hired was that it was likely going to be the guy after the next guy (which means after Campbell) who might have the better chance to get us a little further than we saw with Franklin.

Obviously….the key to success is firing the coach every year until you find one that goes 12-0 and wins a NC.
That was a very frustrating loss for sure, ugh.
But honestly, what I’m feeling more than anything else right now is sad for those already voting “Yes.” Gawd people.

I don't think PSU can wait that long. HCMC came in with a very favorable schedule and needed to at least go 9-3, and at this juncture, that is doubtful.
I posted weeks ago that it was going to be sad to watch this love affair die. Some of the expectations were borderline insanity. No coach walks on water or divides the loaves and fishes. There are reasons we play the game. It's called competition and half the competitors lose every weekend. Campbell is a very good and proven coach. The dismay here is largely the residue of unrealistic fanboy expectations. When you spend 6 months finding reasons to discredit a reasonably successful former coach and insist that the person who hasn't coached a single game here is going to be better in every way....well you are simply asking to eat crow for dinner.
Franklin is gone. Wish him well at VT. Matt Campbell is our coach now and deserves to not be ostracized for one loss. He needs $$$ to hit the portal and recruiting. If PSU does not reach excellence at the highest level, IMO it's on Kraft. Who is he hugging tonight?

No, but thats a bad loss. Offense seems over matched. Terrible QB play. Surprised he was that bad.

Cignetti set the new standard in this era. There are no more 3-4 year turnarounds. The only saving grace is that Kraft acted liked a dick for so long in the coaching search that we lost essentially our entire recruiting class including a couple of top 10 level national recruits. I’m starting to think Kraft is just a toxic moron that infects the entire atheistic department except Cael has the mystique to overcome it in wrestling. How do idiots like Kraft just fail up like that…..
Other than Cignetti, who else has done it? And who’s done it without a huge influx of money equal to Indiana’s? That should not be the new standard.

This ^^^^ pretty much sums it up for me. The TV announcers repeatedly described Becht as the most experienced QB in college football. He certainly did not show that today.

You guys got what you screamed for and deserve. Getting rid of Franklin was one of the dumbest, most boneheaded moves in history. 10 out of 10 non-Covid winning full seasons and a trip to the National Semi-finals wasn’t good enough.
We had to boo him and our team out of the stadium to the point where the whole Oregon and Northwestern teams ran down to thank our idiotic student section for the support.
We figured this would be a Playoff year because we have the easiest schedule the Big Ten could give us. Yet, based on what I saw today with this new coaching staff and Frankenstein arrangement of overpaid mercenaries, the only teams maybe worse than us on our schedule are Maryland and Rutgers. That includes Purdue who would kick our a$$ right now based on the way we match up.
