I was getting a healthy round of “Go f*ck yourselfs” in Stuart Hall, the first of many.
59 years ago I started on 3rd floor of Shunk in the summer term. Fall term i was banished to the 9th floor of Tener. Great view to the stadium and up the valley.
Yes, back then they had to get the harvest in and then you had to walk.
Actually that was the start of Freshmen orientation. Classes didn't start until Oct 3rd. We were on quarters schedule, 10 wks/qtr. Tuition, room and board was $425/qtr or $1275/year. Crazy wasn't it?
Were you out-of-state? In-state tuition was $150/quarter when I was a freshman in 1967 (5th floor Shunk).

Yes quarters, but they started sept 25? That was a long awesome summer!!! They went to semesters my freshmen year.
1966. A new head coach named....um.....what was his name...Joe something. Oh yes, Joe Paterno.
Finished season 5-5, with losses to 3 teams ranked in top 10 at the time. All were on the road.
Lost 42-8 to #1 Michigan State.
Lost 49-11 to #4 UCLA.
Lost 21-0 to #5 Georgia Tech.
Combined that's 112-19.
The final game was a 48-24 win at Pitt Stadium. Pitt finished 1-9.

My kids are only 28k each a semester.
65 years ago sept 25 I had my first class. EG 10. Third floor Hammond. An old guy name of Ullery. A real SOB. On Wed and Fri I had ROTC (required then). 20 minutes to get to Wagner building. Hammond had worlds slowest elevators.
You guys have good memories.
I recall starting in ‘66 at Ogontz campus. Moved to main campus in fall ‘68 and placed in East Halls. Can’t remember the name of the building or which floor. Only that I was on a floor with a bunch of Navy ROTC guys including my room mate. Can’t remember his name either, but I didn’t feel welcomed. Stayed there a couple weeks until a friend of mine from Philly found me a room at Holmes in North Halls (2nd floor I think) where I spent the next two years until graduating in Dec ‘70.
Funny how I don’t recall details from that time period. Same thing when I talk with guys from my high school that remember teachers names and a bunch of other details that have never crossed my mind since I left.
