Field Suites are coming to Rutgers Football, SHI Stadium
Field suites are coming to SHI Stadium and here's what Rutgers' Scarlet Knight Enterprises CEO Fred Mangione had to say.
I would concentrate on building out west side suites.
Still can’t figure out why during the stadium expansion they didn’t recenter the field.
Yea remember the explanation. And said real time to brothers ( architects) one worked on the first stadium expansion. How ridiculous not centering the field. Both said could have recentered the field without regrading the north endzone. But true to “Rutgers” fashion. Went the cheap route versus the prudent route. That's been on hold for over a decade. After the club seats, the next phase of the expansion was to rebuild the press box and build out luxury suites. Those would be a cash cow but, again, ya gotta get the money to build it out.
That was part of the expansion plan in 2008-2009 - they were suppose to regrade the North Endzone like how the South Endzone is, which would have provided another 2K seats. However when the planned budget was cut from $132 mill to $100 mil due to the mortgage crisis, that part of the expansion was cut out.
I don’t know why someone would pay big money for a suite with a horrible view of what’s happening on the field.
Notice what’s missing? The giant space in front of the north endzone is a great spot for these. Ohio State and UCLA just did something similar. Eventually, would expect these to be baked into the stadium, but for now temporary structure with some tarp behind is what I imagine. Using AI:

We cant be blowing the jack and cokes right out of the big donors hands!
I’m serious, where does it go?We cant be blowing the jack and cokes right out of the big donors hands!
why would anyone pay big money to watch the game from there? Horrible sight lines that low. if you were going to do endzone boxes, put them at the top of the north endzone with a VIP entrance from the street. The giant space in front of the north endzone is a great spot for these. There was a rendering a while back that showed this on top of the roof. Looked like mostly outside seating too.why would anyone pay big money to watch the game from there? Horrible site lines that low. if you were going to do endzone boxes, put them at the top of the north endzone with a VIP entrance from the street.
I thought those were under the scoreboard?2 things. Cameras and the cannon crew.
Been on platforms in both endzones for years. Kelli sold the naming rights to them this year. They have valley bank branding on them this year.I thought those were under the scoreboard?
Guess it depends on what network is doing the game.
The Cannon is non sense.Elevate the cannon to a platform above the student section...not going to sell suites when the cannon rattles the area...
There are such luxury suites in every single NFL stadium built in the last 10 years and many big time college stadiums now as well. People will buy them for the clout!why would anyone pay big money to watch the game from there? And can we hten flip the TV cameras to the east stands so Schiano (or a head coach with teh sense to wear a hat or visor) can stand in the shade with his teams for hot day games and not have to squint and hold his hand over his eyes because he refuses to wear a hat? How about someone invent note cards that function as a visor as well? How many things has he missed seeing because there was too much glare from sun or lights?Much needed revenue long overdue
Also need suites on the press box side - and ASAP
Closer to the action. They get a ton of interest.I don’t know why someone would pay big money for a suite with a horrible view of what’s happening on the field.
Agreed. Time to get rid of the cannon. It’s as old and tired as the guys who do it. It’s a terrible look on tvThe Cannon is non sense.
Elevate the Suites slightly in the North end zone. Will lose a few front rows of seats in those sections…more than offset by the Game Day Dollar$$$ from the Suites.
I’m sure. But I wouldn’t be a buyer. Much rather be in the club section.Closer to the action. They get a ton of interest.
Because those people arent in the business of caring about what goes on with the game. Most club boxes of that caliber are rich people focused on entertaining clients and closing business deals.I don’t know why someone would pay big money for a suite with a horrible view of what’s happening on the field.
Absolutely not. You don't kill 1 of our longest and most prominent traditions. This type of thinking is why we have very few traditions and our game day ops is ever changing for the worse. We've had how many different walkout songs and lineup of videos over the years? It was terrible when they moved it for the expansion construction and didn't have it at all for a game or 2 if I remember correctly. It has to be on the field.Agreed. Time to get rid of the cannon. The Canon signifies our status as a colonial institution and the role of New Brunswick in the Revolutionary War. Getting rid of it is stupid.Absolutely not. Things change. Programs with much stronger history than us have evolved. It’s a tired bad look. Do you really think otherwise?Absolutely not. Yeah I really think it would be 1 of the worst decisions ever to get rid of the cannon. It should be on the field. You'd probably have some people give up tickets too. Plenty of other things to do to improve the experience.Things change. Programs with much stronger history than us have evolved. It’s a tired bad look. Do you really think otherwise?
ZERO need to "regrade" the student (south) endzone. None.Regrade both endzones to make them even, not disjointed looking like USC (or put field boxes in the big one)
Meant the one endzone - students should be closer to the action thoughZERO need to "regrade" the student (south) endzone. None.
That's why the south end zone was built as such, to bring them close, because in the north end zone they would be too far away. That being said, of course, it would be GREAT to have them even closer. Just not gonna happen to expensive to redo that entire end.Meant the one endzone - students should be closer to the action though
I get it but it looks horrendusThat's why the south end zone was built as such, to bring them close, because in the north end zone they would be too far away. That being said, of course, it would be GREAT to have them even closer. Just not gonna happen to expensive to redo that entire end.
