Pretty good list, IMO

Though I am not sure how "arrow up" Lynn or Keeler are. Not saying they don't have bright futures (both of them) just not sure they have shown enough to be serious P4 head coach hot candidates as of yet.

Someone should add up the buy out costs of all those other guys' contracts.
It has to be a few hundred million - and only a few of them would have other programs lined up to throw bags of money at them if they were to get canned.

BTW: How in the hell did Colorado manage to not only lose to NW, but 41-7?????
For the first 20 minutes or so of that game, Colorado showed they had WAY more athletic talent on the field than NW (but contuinually shot themselves in the foot, allowing NW to hang around), and then just imploded at the first sign of adversity.
That looks very, very, very bad for Neon/Prime.

Meanwhile, in Lincoln:
UNL, which has been blessed by the scheduling Gods in recent years, was also given a free "5-0 start" this year (3 tomato cans, then Michigan State and Maryland).
BUT, then it gets interesting, and not many layups in the back half. A 5-0 start (if he DOESN'T start 5-0 there will be much howling and gnashing of teeth) could still turn into a 8-4, maybe even 7-5 season record.
By the time they walk off the field in the season finale in Iowa City, it could get ugly in Husker-Land.
Norvell $46.7 million
Rhule $63 million
Riley $50 million
Swinney $57 million
Beamer $27.9 million
Sanders $25.5 million
Belichick $20.8 million
Fickell $21.3 million
Leipold $17.9 million
Schiano $17.3 million
Satterfield $8.2 million
Locksley $5.6 million

About $361 million.

Even though no asks or cares, here are my thoughts...

1. Norvell, F$U.
2. Locksley, Maryland.
3. Schiano, Rutgers.
4. Beamer, South Carolina.
5. Fickell, Wisconsin
6. Rhule, Nebraska
7. Riley, U$C
8. Prime, Colorado
10. Leipold, Kansas
11. Satterfield, Cincy
12. Swinney, Clemson
13. O'Brien, Boston College
14. Brown, Syracuse
15. Belicheck, UNC

NOTE: the order has no significance. The order is based simply on which coach popped into my mind.

All First Year Coaches were exempt. (Sorry, that means Campbell and Franklin were not considered).

Additionally, some hot names for upward mobility

1. D'Anton Lynn (PSU)
2. KC Keeler (Temple)
3. Diaz (Duke)

Tell me how wrong I am.
As both a Penn State and Duke alum, I hope you’re wrong about two of your three “upwardly mobile” choices.

Rhule on the hot seat? They're 3-0 and seem to be doing OK, although it is still the preseason. Nebraska's biggest problem is schedule. They play Oregon, Indiana, and Ohio State, and as usual, finish up with Iowa. If Nebraska wins against one of those 3 "tough teams," Rhule should be OK, even if Nebraska pulls a boner elsewhere in the schedule. Besides, who is Nebraska going to get to replace Rhule?

Colorado might fire CP, but again, who do they get to replace him? They'd lose a lotta buzz, too.

I think Locksley and Schiano are too high on the list (bar very low at both schools) but they should be on the list. I think Belichick is way too low. UNC's schedule includes UND, Miami, Duke, Pitt, and Louisville as well. Normally not a "murderer's row," but we are talking ACC here. And from what I understand, Belichick has other problems aside from win-loss record.
The order of the list is random.

Interesting to note that unlike HCJF (who saved PSU $60 million or so, because he won plenty enough games to still be "in demand") most of those guys ain't going to find another similar gig if/when they get canned.
Which, depending on how their contracts are structured, may just give them MORE job security.
Sh$ttier Performance, make yourself "unemployable" = MORE Job Security.

How F'ed up is that?

No wonder the leadership of this "sport" are praying for deliverance from their own sins - deliverance at the hands of Politicians!

What organization has leadership so fouled up and incompetent that it is looking for salvation from the organization that supposedly set the gold standard for "fouled up"?

Unreal.

It's an interesting conundrum. A fair number of fans/alums recall the days when coaching/staff changes at PSU were almost unheard of. We have had more coaching/staff changes in the last few years than the period of 1966-2010.

But, if a coach has an opportunity to move up to a HC position from a coordinator position, that does indicate the person has skills and abilities and should be afforded the opportunity to capitalize on that, he should. Not every coach that left here left of their own volition, but, there have been a few that have had opportunities to move forward in their career.

If Dabo loses to my Sturdy Golden Bears in Berkeley this Friday night, he is gonna be giving Norvell a run for his money at the head of this list.

As for the Lions, I anticipate both a victory and a healthy margin of victory. Wisconsin does not look like a world beater this year.

Domino to watch this season is USC; if they pull the trigger on firing Riley, their top choice is going to be Kalen DaBoer. Jennifer Coehn, USC's AD, hired DaBoer at Washington and they have a great relationship. If DaBoer jumps, it's gonna get wacky. Throw in possible openings at Clemson, FSU, and North Carolina, and it could be a very interesting off season.

If we even get to the off season. And we have a few in the B1G that might not be around when we play them, Schiano and Locks.

Can usc afford to fire Riley? I thought he was owed half the national debt to come there.

Rhule not on HS.
Fickell is ok barring total collapse
Dabo is more secure than most
Rutgers won't fire Schiano, but I wouldn't rule out an amicable settlement.

Fickell def on hot seat. he is game to game. Beating us bought him another week, but if that game would have gone the way it appeared in the first quarter, with total Wisconsin fail, and blow out loss, he very well could be gone now., If he comes in with a losing season he def gone

OK we disagree. I think Wisconsin is going to be very careful in their hires/fires. They are on the precipice of being the latest Nebraska. Remember, they fired Paul Chryst 67-26 the Wisky victim of "We Deserve Better." Wisky will not be better in the 100 games after Chryst was sent packing.
Tomorrow's game might put PSU in the same spiral. Or it might at least temporarily remove that stigma.

Firing Chryst mid season was mistake, unforced error no doubt. But if Wisconsin has 3 losing seasons in a row, Fickell done. he does not have a lot of good will here among the donor class. He definitely earned a reprieve by beating us in dramatic come from behind fashion, likely to end of season, but a losing season and he is out.

Alabama guy with a Tuscaloosa heart…
Well there was a significant number of football experts here who wanted DeBoar to lose big games at the end of the season, so he could be hired here to do what Franklin couldn't (win big games). Who am I to argue with the BWICAC?😏🤭🤔

Maybe

But they have 3 wins already and
- Have MSU this week
- Finish with Rutgres, Maryland, Purdue and Minnesota.

Even with Colton Joseph at QB, I don't know if they can NOT finish w a winning record. But if that don't, with that schedule, they SHOULD fire him (I still don't know if they would or not)

They may can him even if he goes 7-5. 8-4 and he probably lives to see another day.
