I know, I know...you are sitting there thinking to yourself, "how in Sam Hell did our in-house pessimist come to this conclusion?"

Well, brother. I'm here to share with you my simple 3-pronged approach to understanding how close we are to being back.

1) For the first time in 3 years, the Plantationists message board mods have returned to complaining about cowbells. You can set your watch to this one. If we are good, the cucks on the other side are going to dig up this corpse.

2) The followers of said message board mods are doing their standard practice of calling us "M$U" (particularly when referencing baseball and basketball recruiting) while also telling you that we are too poor to hold onto football players.

3) Lastly, Po' Ol' State fans (POSFs) complaining about basic game economics. There is one universal truth when it comes to gameday lodging. The less you suck, the more expensive The Derby is. Low hotel prices and a top-25 football team are MUTUALLY EXCLUSIVE in SEC Country.

Before the Minnesota game it was, you haven't played a P4 team yet. Let's see them do that to a P4 team. After Minnesota it was, you haven't done that to a SEC team yet. Let's see them do that to an SEC team. Now it is let's see them do that to a ranked SEC team (or a team that has beaten a Power 4 team). What is after this? Let's see them do it to a SEC team that has won one road Power 4 game and one Power 4 home game?

That's exactly what we have faced. Glad you understood. It has set up well, getting a little harder every week. No gigantic steps to take so far. Something to remember....we started out 4-0 last year.

Well, to be fair, until we do it, these are legitimate takes. I don't begrudge anyone or question their fandom for being skeptical or for hedging their optimism.

We started 4-0 last year, if you recall. Of course you can tell me all the reasons it's different this time, but then you're doing the same thing you're accusing others of doing.

I'm just gonna enjoy the ride.

The question though is, when do us gun shy State fans (myself included), see enough to say this is a good team?

Agree that is absolutely the reason. At some point, maybe if we win Saturday or maybe if we some how knock off Alabama, we can all comfortably say that we are good this year.

There’s no comparison between this team and last year’s team. We’ve improved on both sides of the ball.

Others outside our fan base seem to be higher on us than our fans. I understand why most of us are cautiously optimistic but it gets old when every time we have success it’s tempered with “remember the bad times!”

My take on the gene's page comments is that they were directed at folks who seemed perplexed and became aggessive towards anyone who expressed caution or concern (prior to the season) about the direction things were heading based on Y1 and Y2.

Im just being facetious about the constant negativity. Which is somewhat understandable. Croom isn't walking out on the field. Felker neither. My favorite posts are the ones where they say 3 wins, Lebby and Loadholt suck and they dont know who any of the players are. So real knowledgeable. But there is a lot of year left and it would be a typical State thing for it to go straight down the toilet. Or Oklahoma to fire Venables and steal our coach after he has his only good year here. Get everybody excited and bail on us. Lord.
