Personally I would like an established offensive/QB oriented HC. Enough with the DC type HCs for now. Kelly certainly checks that box and is an established winning HC at the highest level. The thing that would worry me about him is whether he is going to have the energy and enthusiasm to properly run a struggling program at 65 and well off. I think back to UNC rehiring Mack Brown who had initial success there and then huge success at Texas. UNC hired him back as HC in his late 60’s and it didn’t go well.

If we go the Asst. coach route experiment yet again I am going to throw up and forever stop defending this school. I totally get that there are plenty of examples where this works but there is REAL RUTGERS history of how it doesn't. This is the NIL era and we need guys willing to come in and play the next year. You need a established winning HC to do that HERE. Rutgers needs to start winning NOW, not another rebuild promise and another rainbow to cross over first. This program needs excitement that comes from a winner and name.

I feel like we’d get some level (maybe not as much) of the Deion/Belichick type hoopla at the outset of a Kelly tenure which can be a good thing if you can capitalize on it.

No one is a guarantee but feel like our current ceiling is closer to Kelly’s floor but couldn’t say what the ceiling would be….status quo or better. I’d be surprised if we got an Ash level tenure from Kelly but who knows.

Indiana showed how to do things but the beans-n-franks crowd sees things as "olden big name coach vs young coordinator" when both of those are sketch.

At LSU Kelly was knon as a distant CEO type coach and he was unable to keep coordinators is struggles that got toxic
