It is an easy choice. I am sorry we will have to agree to disagree on that, at least for your first scenario. In your scenario with kids, it is an easy choice not to take a random pill just to look cool in front of your friends. Put my life on the line or look cool in front of my buds? I am sorry that it is an easy choice for me.

I will agree that there are habitual users that go through painful withdrawals and those withdrawals are a genuine reason for one to be influenced to use. But saying it is getting out of control is just another way of excusing the behavior. You are always in control of your actions. Sure, you can be influenced and some of those influences can be very powerful, but in the end it is still a choice. Do I think it is horrible that kids died? Of course, I do. But they are not dead due to some uncontrollable force. They are dead due to horrible choices. Again, just my two cents.

Delete. Double post.

Man, if it was JUST that easy 🤔. It would be the biggest craze in lots of people not using and not ODing! Anyway, lots of people die making horrible choices. That's probably one of the leading causes of death. Always has been and always will be.

Unfortunately, the Kratom trash is found all over the place. Indian run gas stations love to sell it. It used to be sold as "potpourri". I think now it's marketed as a "supplement".

The FDA needs to ban it immediately.

Amazing what young fools will buy from "Indian run gas stations" and put in their bodies w/out having a clue what may be in it. Next time any of you are in one take a look at the counter around the cash register and all the junk they sell there. That Chevron on East Lee Blvd next to the old Mr Cook (near Campus Book Mart) is a prime example, they've got more vape, stimulants, "vitamins", paraphernalia, etc in that store than they do anything else. And, their beer is hot so 17 them

Made in China, distributed by Mexico.

Precisely. And we have too many snowflakes believing "Gosh darnit we gotta be nice and inclusive to the Chinese and Mexican Cartels! Don't wanna offend them!" that will throw a fit if our government tries to do anything to stop or slow it. That and certain politicians interfere to spite the sitting president because they can't let him be successful or anything, and I'm sure they are getting some nice kickbacks too from cartels, globalists or the Chinese.

I don’t own a gas station I’m a mortician who looks at death certificates every day. Most cities definitely have connection to the lobbyists in Jackson. Kratom ban in Mississippi is tough because last time they tried it the public came forward and said please don’t. So there’s a lot of pressure on the lawmakers in both directions. Yes the cities are involved with lobbyists. And they work hand in hand with the state legislature.

most actual Kratom users get their Kratom from a reputable source. I’d be in favor of a gas station Kratom ban but if we do that we need to also get all the other drugs they sell and supplies. Gas stations have become a real problem I will agree with that.
Thank you for your concession that the shitt in gas stations needs to go. Because obviously once it's in there, completely unregulated as it is, they will sell to absolutely anyone with zero regard for their age, need, mental or psychological health, etc.

Anyway, you may be right that there's "good kratom" available somewhere... I don't know anything about the drug other than what I said. Well, also one of the cops said it was made from the same base (or plant?) as an actually regulated narcotic - heroin I think? But I have literally spoken to multiple first responders, and have heard them stand up and give testimony in city council meetings, about how it can F kids up. Up to and including death. So my opinion of it comes from those testimonies - not some big pharma propaganda.

I can tell you with certainty that students at both State and UM have died from drug overdoses since my kid enrolled at State, and those deaths have largely avoided media pickup unless the families have been the ones publicizing it.
Pretty sure there was another one in the last month (not at state or ole Miss) that didn’t get reported as such in the news

You used to slam quaaludes without worry?
That is such an absurd comment to make without it being ironic.
You don't realize the absurdity, so you then make it seem like now pills are suddenly dangerous.

While fentinyl laced pills are largely made outside the US, they are also made here.
It's sickening regardless of where they are made.
Back in the heyday of quaaludes pills were safer. That’s not saying they were safe but they were made in the US by a legitimate manufacturer for a legitimate medical reason. Quaaludes were popular sleeping pills. If you didn’t go to sleep they were just a good drunk. Today you don’t know where or who or for what purpose a pill was made. I firmly believe drugs were safer back in the 70’s and 80’s. You were more apt to be killed by what the drugs made you do than by the drugs themselves. Driving under the influence, jumping off the RR bridge into the river, hooking up with married women, and eating an over abundance of Doritos. That’s what would kill you.

I knew that would get your attention 😆. Good Lord what cave have have you been in? It was slightly exaggerated, yes, but the snowflakes crying about border security, not letting anyone and their entire family in the US, no questions asked, and the snowflakes crying about using our Navy to blow up cartel boats, etc. There were snowflakes that went BALLISTIC when the US captured Maduro. Hell most of them are rooting for Iran, too. You're not looking hard enough if you aren't seeing it.

So you're saying I shouldn't buy the Horny Goat Weed from the gas station? Guess a boring life it is then...
