We're going to have a more explosive offense!?! Why? Well, Tim Lester seems to think we NOW have the horses on offense.

I know, I know...we will have to see it to believe it.

As you will see in the video that follows, Lester has a package of plays that he's never been able to run UNTIL NOW.

I am curious who he thinks those horses are.

Tim sure did a masterful job of hiding his playbook vs. Iowa State. That may have been the worst game he's called at Iowa. Almost no misdirection despite not being able to run the ball at all. Two QB sneaks into an 11-man brick wall. Brown fumbled on the 4th and 1 play but was lucky enough to recover. Brown also fumbled on a run up the middle but, again, the ball luckily bounced back up to him. Brown easily could have had two crucial turnovers.

As we saw with MG last year, when you have a QB who can run, the defense has to account for him, which makes it an 11 on 11 game. When you don't, the defense has an 11-10 advantage. Brown is not a running threat. Hecklinski is, so in his 27 years of wisdom, KF anoints Brown after giving Hecklinski half a game. QB "competition" over. Seems ridiculous from here.

It was worth a brag immediately following the game. That said, we followed that performance with only 284 against ISU. Classic Hawkeyes.

There's another brag on the way when we beat up UNI this weekend. Cool.

Regarding running ability, your take is the opposite of the narrative I’ve heard. Isn’t Brown supposed to be the more mobile of the two?

Stats through 3 games are meaningless considering the competition. UNI is an absolute joke and Northern Illinois hasn’t won a game and one of their losses was to a FCS team at home.

most would say Iowa’s performance against Iowa State was disappointing considering the state of ISU’s program.

The season starts Saturday.

Most teams, outside of a few, load up on patsies in the preseason. We have in the past as well and have rarely, if ever, looked this complete on offense. If we can stay healthy, I think we’re in for a special season.

We'll know a lot more after tomorrow and next weekend as these are the 2 best defenses the offense will face all year.

They might be 2 of the best defenses in all of college football. So not sure if that’ll be a good gauge or not, but from a W/L standpoint, if we can get a split….look out.

Brown is said to have better straight-ahead speed.

In the limited sample size we have this year, Brown has looked like the better runner.

It's been said that Hecklinski is a "gunslinger." That doesn't necessarily mean he's a good runner. I think people assume Heck is a better runner because he is smaller. (Or that Hank can't run because he's tall.)

Well if true let's see if he actually let's some of his horses run this Saturday. 21 pts is not going to win this game. In our 4 losses to good teams last year we scored 13 against IA ST, 15 against IU, 16 against Oregon and 21 against USC. If we play as conservatively as we did against Michigan we will not win this game. I'm not saying to have Hank sling the ball all over the field but we can't be as bad as we were for 3 qtrs against Michigan offensively and win this game. The Buckeyes are just to talented. I'd love to see us come out like we did against Vandy in the bowl game even.

Conservative vs Michigan?

Iowa barely even ran the ball on consecutive downs vs Michigan. Only 21 carries for the RB's.

What game were you watching?

agree. osu is such a beast...forces opponents to completely change their game to stand a chance. no other b1g team is like these guys except perhaps usc whose coach seems to want to play like them
