Hear me out....what if this is a development year for Lanorris?

I know, it's his 3rd year as a starter. Development should be in the rear view mirror. But, in his defense, he is on his 3rd OC in 3 years and last year's offensive system was horrible. Maybe we'd be in a different situation had Dowell stayed. But we got Shula and a terrible offense last year. For sure, Lanorris is not off the hook. He makes throws that an experienced P4 QB simply should not make, no matter how many offensive systems they have been in.

However, I think we can all agree Sellers isn't the most cerebral QB. That being the case, it's the worst scenario possible to be jerking that kind of QB in and out of a new offensive system every year. Briles is a good OC. That much is sure. Play calling has been good this year and, if we execute, we're 3-0, with a comfortable win over MSU. Perhaps Sellers needs a year to grow in the system and have the benefit of a 2nd year with the same OC.

There is a play against Miss State, in the first quarter when his helmet that kept popping off, pops off, and Cutter came in, but they called a TO before letting him run a play, I wanted to see Cutter rip a pass in the red zone, when the defense would be expecting a run with the backup QB coming in and see what would happen.

There is a lot of games to play, hopefully Briles gets him to start improving which is the sign of good coaching.

Does that mean we bring back the "Wait 'Til Next Year" slogan?

I don't think that will help. He is what he is at this point. But that is probably Beamer's thought - he will catch on in a few more games.

What did you think would happen giving a kid $10M+ over the last 3 years? Two choices: too much pressure to live up to that kind of money or breeds laziness. These kids cannot handle that kind of money at 18-24 yo. Look at the 3 highest paid rosters already with 1 loss- Oregon, LSU & Oh St.

It’s a losing proposition

My brother taught in the Florence School District when Sellers came through middle school. Knows Sellers and the family a little bit. He says that Sellers is a people pleaser and that he believes too many people are in Sellers ear. What my brother says is showing through on the field. Sellers does not appear to know what type of QB he is or wants to be. He is an athlete that doesn't want to run and a passer that doesn't step into his throws and rip it like he did two years ago. I would prefer the guy that would rip it and sail a pass or two like he used to do. Now, he seems to be grooving his throws, like a shortstop that has the yips, and the ball is not getting to its target. Reminds me of what Sam Darnold went through with the Jets and Panthers before he finally got himself right in Minnesota and Seattle.

NIL money should be tied to performance and results! No guarantee's!

If this is a development year, then he should probably improve as the season progresses, right?

Some kids can handle it. Some can't. Same as with the NFL or any other sport. No one is getting paid more in college than Darian Mensah and he is playing like a Top Notch QB. Has only 8 Incomplete Passes in 3 Games.

one can could make a few points in excusing just how little he has developed and how badly he has played. Two of those points are 100% the fault of Shane Beamer, that being the hiring of Mike Shula and the other the retention of arguably the worst Ol coach in the country, Lonnie Teasley. That being said, I am ready for the post Sellers era to begin, I want to see a cerebral qb who understands situational football and manage his game. Sellers is just far too inconsistent and turns the ball over far too much.

very long way to say “wait til next year.” Lanorris is a runner period. Make him beat you with his arm. He lacks accuracy.
